Audi RS5 arriving early 2008

Audi RS5 arriving early 2008
As we reported before the new Audi A5 will launch breed of the ‘5' lineup with the A5 convertible already set for debut in November of 2008. But before the arrival of the A5 convertible, Audi will be launching the Audi RS5 in early 2008, just in time to compete with its BMW M3 and Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG rivals.

According to CarMagazine, the Audi RS5 will carry a 4.2 liter V8 engine that produces 450 horsepower giving it the ability to go from 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph.

The car will be developed by Quattro on the A5 chassis and will get the same carbon ceramic brakes found in the R8, 19 inch allow wheels and modified magnetic ride dampers taken from the TT. Pricing is expected to be around BMW M3’s £50,625.

NICE! I love the photoshop, I love the power (glad Audi isn't sticking to its RS4 laurels) and the date isn't bad, either. It seems as if Audi has finally realized how beneficial it is to get their S/RS cars out early in the model run.

I really like the 'S' and 'RS' lines from Audi. They are cool, but not "in your face" with the styling.

I still think the Audi RS4 is best looking car Audi has right now;even when compare it to the RS5. Neverless the Audi RS5 is very good looking coupe.

Agent63 and I want an R8, too... join the club.

Or, better, join the waiting list.

The Audi R8 is in a different class, but the Audi R8 is very good looking as well. So yeah! to answer your question the Audi R8 and RS4 is Audi best looking cars right now.

Wow, I must applaud a lexus fan for complimenting a German brand. Congrats!

RS4 is the best looking car of AUDI, not even this CLK-copied RS5 can match. R8 looks like a worm or something.

If RS5 is to compete w/ M3, though it might never be able to, why should I pay more than M3? Because its better plastic or ubiquitous chrome trim? I really like AUDI's build quality, which is maybe on par w/ LEXUS, but I just don't know why it should be more expensive than Bimmer.

What an ignoramous. You seem to me like a simple-minded badge whore... just another that we don't need on this website.

1. This is not a "CLK-copied" car. It's in the same class, so what?

2. If the RS4 already wiped out the last-gen M3, how can you have trouble imagining that the RS5 (which is more powerful, lighter and more agile) will be a very tough competitor for the new M3?

3. You would pay more for the RS5 for the exclusivity, the extra power, the supreme engineering that goes into it and the extra details that set RS cars apart.

You wouldn't be able to afford it, anyway, so why ask?

It's not more expensive...it's expected to be about the same.

First don't need to get pissed just because nobody take S4 seriously.....

Don't need to call me badge whore while you are the real one. I don't even drive BMW, I gave it to my girlfriend.

I have no hardtime imagine RS5 will be a very tough competitor for the new M3, I just have a hardtime trying to understand why it should cost more now that it only has 2 doors.

Yes, I cannot afford the stupidity to buy it because, thank you, I'll rather spend less money on the real deal, NISSAN GT-R.

BTW, don't call it exclusivity when AUDI cannot sell it.

Nobody takes "me" seriously, or the car (Audi S4)?

And do you know how clear your badge-whoriness is in the above statement? I'll give you a few examples:

"...not even this CLK-copied RS5 can match. R8 looks like a worm or something."

"If RS5 is to compete w/ M3, though it might never be able to..."

"...I just don't know why it should be more expensive than Bimmer."

And then, you disregard my comments, and continue your rant, trying to turn the tables on me, making me look like a badge whore? Excuse me, but I've considered the BMW 650i, M6 and M5; the Mercedes E AMG, CLS AMG, CLK AMG and SL; the Porsche 911, Jaguar XKR; and Audi RS4, RS5 and R8. I am not committed to one brand. I have had a great experience with Audi, and I now know how good their cars are (unlike some of the more ignorant souls such as yourself), but it's time to move on... unless I get an R8, which would be sweet.

To quote your response to others: "Woah, thanks for the crude response."

Now I finally understand why you are always so pissy, probably because you made a not very smart decision out of the list of the BMW 650i, M6 and M5; the Mercedes E AMG, CLS AMG, CLK AMG and SL; the Porsche 911, Jaguar XKR; and Audi RS4, RS5 and R8. Please accept my sympathy.

Honestly speaking I don't give a shit about your personal attack, since you've been famous for it on this site. What I care is if someone can properly answer the question I've always have.

I can surely understand if you cannot :)

I'm talking about for my NEXT car. I couldn't realistically afford anything over $70K the last time I was in the market; now, it can be anywhere from $80,000-110,000.

And, thanks, I know I'm famous.

hot ! ill get what ever costs me less between the rs5 and m3.
i would prefer m3 because of name and heritage since rs5 is new but rs5 should be amazing.

the RS5 is the truth but if they were going to bring it out so soon tho why bother putting out the S5 in the us so late in 07 Audi is really shooting itself in the foot with the way try are handling it ...........And based on the RS$ pricing I doubt this car wont be at least 7 grand more than the M3 but then again if that extra 7k means that much to you you shouldn't be looking to buy either

Woah. That's one really long, incoherent sentence.

I have no idea what you were trying to say, but no (?), the RS5 does not compete with the S5.

RS5 having more power than the Flagship coupe R8(420BHP),I don't think so.

It will be same.

No, because Audi will move forward with the V8 engine. The current R8 is not their flagship coupe- the 500-600hp V10 version will be out by the time the RS5 is on sale, remember? And the R8 4.2 will still drive better, look better, and weigh less.

S4cabriofoxone your a fucking idiot I meant that many of the speed freaks who can afford it will wait a couple extra months to buy the RS5 instead of the S5. The S5 isnt coming to the US until late November they should have released it earlier this year before the spring so it could compete directly with the 335ci from the jump. And dumbass the RS4 is 72k the current M3 is roughtly 59k so assuming the coupe will cost a little more you can expect to pay 75K for the RS5 but the new M3 will probably sell for 62k tops. I knew there were couple idiots on these boardds but I didnt know I had to take it back to ABC's

RupertRupert - 5/18/2007 6:23:23 PM

The new M3 in Britain will cost the same as the RS4, so I assume it to be the same in the US.
There was a considerable price jump from the old model.
And calling a poster a fucking idiot is a very quick way to get booted off the site.

Woah, thanks for the crude response. I had no idea what you said, because you used no punctuation marks. Learn how to write, and if I still don't understand what you're saying, then you can call me a "fucking idiot," but here, I wasn't contradicting you at all.

The RS4 is $72K LOADED, the M3 is $59K with very little options.

Are you that dumb, to say the M3 will be "62k tops?" And the RS5, at SEVENTY-FIVE? Woke up on the wrong side of the bed or something?

Take my word for it- the RS5 coupe will be under $70,000, base. Both the M3 and RS5 will be able to go over $70,000, quite easily. I wanted to look at the M3, and I probably still will, and I'd gladly pay $75K for such a machine.

S4cabriofoxone sorry for the crude response that was wrong of me. But I think that the RS5 is gonna cost more than the RS4 just based on supply and demand sorry even tho it has fewer doors car companies usually make less and let the buyers bid up the price. Look at the track record the 335 coupe vs sedan, the MB S550 vs the CL550 etc.

You're probably right, but I would be very surprised if it started at over $70K. If it does, Audi would probably have chosen to make it standard with everything, like the new $140K S600. M3 will probably be $60K-65K, but, knowing BMW, it will have at least $10,000 in very tempting options.

here's a brilliant idea: let's wait until Audi and BMW each release their official price lists before bashing each other about it!

I, for one, would probably buy a Porsche if either the BMW or Audi decide to price their sports coupes in the same range, but until one drives, one can't judge. Can't wait until i can get some seat time in each for direct comparison!
