LS600hl at the Toyota's Arizona Proving Grounds

Wanting to show off the new all-wheel drive 2008 Lexus LS 600hL, and the state-of-the-art, 4,800 hectare TAPG facility (including a whopping 16-kilometre banked oval), Toyota opened the gates to the press a few weeks before launching the LS 600hL.

What's there? The oval (you can't miss that), and a 2.4-km ride/handling course, a 2.4-km dirt track, a 2.8-km brake test area, a 900-metre low friction test area and a 4,100-square-metre garage. Currently the TAPG track is the largest oval track in the world.

yeah but you've NEVER SEEN such people actually pulled over, have you?

the fact is, as long as they stay out of the fast lane, these folks bother NO ONE. in fact, they're EASY to simply drive around, as they're more involved with themselves in the cabin than what's going on around them.

the beemer (USUALLY) drivers constantly zigGing and zagging in traffic just to gain a mere half a car length is FAR MORE ANNOYING AND DANGEROUS.

THOSE idiots are the ones who should have their cars confiscated and made to commute on bicycles or by bus.

BTW, does anyone know when the LS600hL will be available to build on the Lexus website? I came across an article of it in Automobile magazine, and it sparked my interest once again- I know my wife would love it, but I just have to know it would be able to get into our garage easily.

For all the Lex lovers who think I don't like this car, that's not my implication at all- I just wouldn't buy it as my own daily driver, if I wanted a luxury sedan. But it's a very good-looking car, and excels at what it is made to do.

LOL! i don't even OWN a cell phone! altho' i have had use of 'em. and KNOW its proper use behind the wheel.

ok, you've seen and been thru all those accidents caused by inattentive drivers, so i'll allow you your rant.

my perspective is that of a person fortunate enuff to drive in relatively low traffic densities. people using cells are NOT SO threatening out here. i often just drive around them.

as for people behind me likely to ram my rear-- NOT likely as i'm aware enuff to frequently monitor my mirrors. besides "flashing" my taillights to alert inattentive drivers, i also allow for escape paths to the front and sides.

motorcycle riders are hyperalert, and generally FAR BETTER drivers than the average bimmer pilot.
