Spy Shots: 2008 Cadillac CTS spotted out in the open

This is one of my favorite up comings cars
Caddi sure are getting their game up. That interior & exterior design is a stunner.

This car has to have one of the best interiors ever because it hardly has any plastic. Only buttons are made of plastic while everything else is in covered leather, chrome and wood.

where only the bottom of the center console is wooden while the upper section is bare and plastic.

IS-F Interior VS regular IS
Look at the 2nd picture, only the bottom where the gearbox is covered in a white (or what ever that is)...while the center console is dull and completely in plastic. Same with the regular IS. I think their interiors look ok but it would really push it to another level.

However Audi's interior also uses a lot of plastic but i think they're the only one who actually make it look good 100%
The new BMW 335i is tacky with the plastic console. I would look much, much better with the area covering the temperature control & Radio/Cd player would be covered in wood.

SO what you do guys think? Like the plastic or rather have wood, chrome and leather?

I hope they bring it to the more expensive Escalade which has a so so interior its seems like a center console with plastic sandwiched by wood.

Since if a Caddy that costs approx 35-40k can bring a interior so good, why not the rest? Since they all are luxury cars and we're all spending money.

I'm now rethinking my recent purchase of an Lexus IS.
This car will be a grand slam home run for GM.
A styling masterpiece from bumper to bumper.

I take my words back on the new CTS. It is a stunning design. The more you look at it the more you will notice the nice detailing.. impressive!

Honestly I still think the front grill is a tad too big but the rest is fantastic..

J.D. Power questions owners of three-year-old vehicles about problems they are experiencing. the rankings:

1. lexus.
2. mercury
3. buick
4. cadillac
5. toyota.

and the differences between the top few are small, so it makes cadillac's ranking even more impressive.

I'll be the first to say that I'm not crazy about it. I dont particularly like the lines on the front. I dont like when auto makers fail to integrate side skirts. The design looks like the door just gets rolled under the car. I see this done when makers are looking to add side skirts as a face lift. The wheel and tire package could use a bit of help. Hopefully the LED lights will be easy to replace or there will be plenty of drivers out there with one LED missing unwilling to replace them. However, I do like the design for a Caddy... They've come a long way from a car which I hated to a car which I'm just not crazy about.

Absolutely gorgoes. I need one. I can't wait until I buy one in a year or two. If the STS gets the interior that the CTS has, Cadillac will be an even bigger smash hit. This CTS will sell like mad. What an amazing job GM did. Good Job GM, keep cars like this coming!!

Not really.....the 2008 STS doesn't have what was rumored a few months ago. The center-stack is only marginally nicer than the 2007 model. The only really interior differences that I've noticed are the instrument panel and the steering wheel. Still, the 2008 STS (and of course the CTS) are very nice vehicles. I will go and say that if the '08 CTS is as good as it looks (and as good as the spec sheets say it is), it will be a hands down, amazing car.

Did they shrink the CTS? the back door looks shorter.
But overall, I have to say, nice car. I hope it will have good quality and reliability for it to have success.

LOL, I doubt it. The DTS is a lost cause. It's Cadillac's Buick... which doesn't make any sense, because GM doesn't need more Buicks.

If they stick the Northstar DOHC V8 into it without gouging pricewise, I might consider it in spite of the high risk of being labeled as someone who buys cars just for the bling.

I'm very excited to see what it'll look like with better rims, and a V bodykit...

"Uplander and friends" made me chuckle... that's something I'd never think to say.

GM dumped its minivans a few months ago, I think, and Ford followed suit. Now it's just after Chrysler to fend off the materially superior Honda and Toyota vans, and even the ever-better Hyundai Entourage/Kia Sedona twins.

Now it's just *UP* to Chrysler...

I'm not sure what is so secret about this car. They had one on display at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale as far back as this past January. One could even sit in it if they wanted to, which I did. The interior is just as nice as the exterior with Audi-like control layouts and Lexus-like graphics and backlit displays.

I agree that those little 17" wheels have to go. It would look much better with some 19" or 20" which I'm sure the CTS-V will have.

TWENTIES? On a car this size?! 19s completely fill out the wheelwells of the M3 and RS4... those would be perfect. 18s and 19s should be optional on the normal CTS.

I have had every kind of sport sedan a person might want, including a BMW 5 series, a four door Ferrari Super Americana, and two GS 430's and I only have one question about the new 2008 CTS and that is what color I am going to get. There may be a car or two out there that can out corner it at 10/10's or out accelerate it at 10/10's, but with the new interior and AWD the CTS will do just fine for 95% of my driving needs at a nice discount from MB, BMW or Lexus. My two complaints are the extractors on the hood ( which I will have taken off ) and the fact that we cannot get the new 300 HP engine with AWD. Cadillac, are you listening ? I think GM has hit a long ball with this one, has improved dramatically on QC out of the Lansing plant and I am happy to reward their efforts in my small way. I have driven the Nurburgring in several Porsches and if the CTS is just close to as good as they say, it will be better than I am, which is plenty good enough for a family sports sedan. Furthermore, it runs on regular fuel and uses the two best Michelin tires that are available. Go GM.

cadillac has poured a ton of money into this car. and it's seems they've addressed the previous car's greatest weakness: a GM parts bin interior. take a look at the interior shots on the cadillac site. very nice.

finally a competitive american sport sedan!

I found a GM press release with all the specs. It turns out that the 2008 CTS can be had with RWD or AWD and a limited slip differential is available as well. The 3.6L 300 hp DOHC V6 is a nice engine for this car. I printed out color photos of the interior also and my wife likes it enough to consider it as an alternative to the small SUV she wants. I just put the CTS on my shopping list.

I have an 06', for all of those who are skeptical about the reliability, I have yet to have any problems with the car. My good friend has an 04 and the only problem inlvoved restarting the computer. The CTS is reliable, cheap to maintain and insure. Great Car, but I am going to wait for the CTS coupe.

Beautiful. It looks great in that maroon/red color. Amazing. Great job GM they finally made a cool looking car. The STS was the starting for this type of look. Now the CTS is more hip and modern than ever. Should see many of the youth population getting one.

People are talking about this car... a GM car.... that's all that needs to be observed. They'll sell a ton of these.

..."Parked next to its owner?" How? I thought they weren't out till fall? I have also been wondering why there is a Buick Enclave riding around the Chicago area that I pass on the way to work everyday. I have been seeing this Enclave since the end of April and they arent even out yet. It has Illinois plates so I know its owned by someone. Could someone tell me how this is possible because I would love to trade in my 300C for the 08 CTS right now...

looks nice but...with gas at $3+ I won't consider it unless it has hybrid technology...otherwise its just another 25mpg (at best) sedan.

well, if you can afford a new CTS, then you can afford the gas. Id rather lose the 3 gallons that the hybrid could save you if I were driving something that looked as good as this.

its not about affording it genius -- its about sending a message to american carmakers to embrace technology that's readily available! you must work for GM or something.
