That is a test mule, not the real thing. it is a S2000 body....but its different on the inside.....get it?

i would still like the nsx to be mid engined, thats basically what made it really special, a mid engined honda! lol

Whatever the final next NSX may be, it needs to come out in a hurry.

I didn't think there was a problem with the Honda HSC concept becoming the new NSX. That was great looking!

Is that design enough to cool the v10 engine? Possibly just a S2000 test mule.

Obviously the s2000 has been stretched to accomodate the longer wheel base on the nsx...not quite sure what the rationale would be for choosing the S2000 body though.

Can a V10 fit under the hood of an S2000?

I agree i love Acura's product but they have too come hard, in order to reestablish themselves as the benchmark of Japanese performance. The s2000 i know is being dropped by honda so that will probally be Acura's convertible model and the nsx will be totally different on top of that.

well I think this is just testing a newer S2000 with bigger engine. I don't think they would test an NSX V8 or V10 engine in the S2000 body. The two are just two completely different cars, so we can't use one to test the other.

Also, is there enough space underneath the body of that thing to accommodate a V10?

Notice that most of the stretch comes in the rear, perhaps due to the fact that the engine is in mid-mounted.

Look at the profile photo after the jump and see how far forward the driver is in the cockpit. If they put the engine in the front, why has the back been elongated and the front kept the same?

NARunner has a point. This could very well be the replacement for the S2000.

In fact, the one picture of the rear that shows the rear suspension, seems to show what could be a motor brace between the suspension that is awfully similar to the old NSX.

Test 'mules' are whatever the hell the manufacturer wants them to be. Stop with your uneducated 'speculation' over why they used a stretched S2000 mule, they used it because it was a good disguise!

What I meant was whether that mutant S2000's engine bay could accommodate a V10.

Also since the next S2000 is expected to grow up markedly in size, this could also be S2000's successor.

Honda's V10 is quite compact. If anyone here seen the Honda F1 V10 engine u will know it not that bigger then a V8.

Also I would like to point out one thing, some of you have said the rear is not long enough to fit a V10, BUT who ever said the engine would be mounted longitude, it could very well be mounted transversally.

Case in point the Lamborghini Miura had a transverse engine.

And judging from where the door ends to the front of the rear whell that V10 can be neslted there IMHO.

I'll bet the engine does not have the optimum 72-degree angle between cylinder banks for V10 engines. Does anyone know?

if its going to be front engined.. great, but sort of take away the orignal NSX mid engine concept which was evne better.

Johnel is sort of right, the engine could be at the back with that rear end disguise.

The s2000 front might be long, but from memory the I4 is placed in longitude. That with the airbox ran all the way to the headlights already.

Check out the vids of a 2JZ powered AP1 S2000 running around the net. If that sixer will fit in a unmodified chassis, a modded one could squeeze in a V10.

and call me crazy, but in the photo of the nose, doesn't it look like the hood has been taped or glued down? They wouldn't do that if the engine were front mounted.
