2008 HONDA ACCORD (MORE INFO)

With the Honda Accord a perennial winner of Car and Driver's 10Best Cars, we are not surprised that more than 350,000 Americans buy this midsize car in a single year. Okay, we can’t take all the credit, but when Honda revamps its best-seller, we took note.

So when the first spy shots of the all-new Accord sedan surfaced today, we knew we had to pass them on, pronto.

Like the 2008 Honda Accord coupe spy shots we brought you last month, the sedan sports the squared-off headlamp assemblies of the concept. But the sedan loses some of the distinctive greenhouse shape and some of the edgy quality that the coupe was able to retain. Honda, obviously, remains convinced sedans must offer a softer and gentler profile.

We do like the new three-dimensional beveled grille—it looks better on both the production sedan and coupe than on the concept—which is a nice change of pace. Unfortunately, spied from behind, the newest Accord abruptly returns your heartbeat to normal.



Like the coupe, the front-wheel-drive sedan that goes on sale this fall is expected to bow with numerous powertrain choices: four-cylinder, a larger V-6, and a hybrid version. We expect the four-pot to make at least 180 horsepower and boast excellent fuel efficiency.

Also, the V-6 model will be the first Honda to offer the long-awaited, all-new i-VTEC V-6, which will grow in displacement and output from the old 3.0-liter to compete more handily with the 3.5-liter mills available in the Toyota Camry and Nissan Altima. There even has been talk of a diesel down the road, but we won’t hold our breath.

The V-6 also will offer Honda’s next generation of cylinder-deactivation technology to reduce emissions below the level of today’s already squeaky-clean Accord while keeping Honda’s Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) rating at its near-30-mpg level.

Like the coupe, the body structure of the ’08 sedan utilizes Honda’s “Advanced Compatibility Engineering” designed to better disperse energy upon impact in a frontal collision, which essentially means occupants are better protected if encased in the eighth-generation Accord.

That was blatantly copied off Car and Driver's website. Just paste the first sentence into your google search bar and C&D's website pops up. And even I knew all this info and I'm no Honda engineer or designer. Oh, here's a little more info you can say "you know because you're a Honda engineer" -- The new Accord engines will get A-Vtec boosting both Fuel Economy and HP/Tq ratings. The V6 will be class leading producing 280hp from a 3.5L engine.

No one here is being judgemental. We're just stating the facts. You stole that article when you posted it on this site claiming that it was your own work. That's illegal, and you even dare to say "maybe it is, maybe it's not."

If you wanted to post this article, the rule of thumb is the post the first two paragraphs and then a link with CITATION to the site you found it from/that wrote the article.

1.Fine aznstuart... maybe I did steal (not saying I did)
2. I never said I was an 'engineer'
3. I never said it was my own work, I knew this info before C/D. In fact, One of my co-workers who is helping design the car gave some of the info to C/D.
4. And for making my day [snotty lil' brat], lets just say,to make you happy, at the end of the article it says 'CITATION'. Just for you. I hope you feel proud and extremely smart.
5. The engine you are talking about is in the Accord Coupe (get it right smart one)
6. Ain't may be in the dictionary, but its not proper english (I expected you would know that, yet you think you know more about this car, but less about english)

Wow, I knew all this info and more before C/D posted...big whop, but I don't go around STEALING other people's work.

I don't see "Citation" anywhere in that article or at the end.

Shows how much you know. The Accord Sedan and Coupe have ALWAYS had the same engine outputs. And the Sedan and Coupe will both get the 280hp 3.5L V6.

Having google toolbar or any other search engine on your computer does not make a nerd. It means you're smart and know how to attain the information the internet has to offer you.

P.S. Have fun at recess tomorrow and do well on your Spelling test. Atleast get a 60% this time. Maybe you'll get a treat!

Looks like the Honda design team copied the current BMW 5 series. It's much better looking than the 7th generation Honda accord (2003-2007).
