The new BMW actully look pretty good in red but not any where near the Audi RS4 or Lexus IS-F. And the sound of the new V8 engine under the M3 hood sounded weak. The Lexus IS-F and Audi RS4 sounded better than that.

It's difficult to objectively judge what 'sounds weak' from an internet video. I find it amazing how biased a person can be to one marquee. Competition is good. As consumers, we all benefit from it. I don't discount the IS-F or RS4 but until we see an objective side by side comparisons, we just can't tell which is the 'better' car. Personally, I'm sure they'll all be great cars, each with particular qualities designed to cater to different individuals.

Okay, I'll admit it right here, right now: in their current forms, I think the M3 has the best styling out of all three of these vehicles. I already think very highly of the design of the normal 3-Coupe, and the M3 isn't such a drast departure away from the original.

Happy? Now all you fools who keep screaming about me and Lexus can shove it.

Basing your statements off of car comparison tests makes your whole argument drop in validity. I don't recall anyone saying any of those things besides the normal fake Lexus fans who German fans like to take seriously to amuse themselves here.

printhan,

The BMW M3 engine sounded really weak in the video; did you even read the article and watch the video?

Love that thing!

Does anyone here have the M6 coupe with the carbon fiber roof option? Just wondering how it holds up to the elements.

It should be no different to any other panel on the car, as it is clear-coated. However scratches may be seen easier. That I cannot tell you for sure.

Drive a BMW, take a 90 degree turn at 40 mph. see how that feels. then get in a lexus and do the same thing... you'll find your answer.

ok, i just went out in my friends non-sport e90 330i, took a turn at 38-40mph on a 90 deg. turn and ended up wide in the 3rd lane over after the turn. is the 335i better?

Yes, I have heard a BMW M6 engine revving, FYI, the BMW 6-Series/M6 is my favorite car from BMW.

The car looks absolutely stunning. I love everything from the stitching on the steering wheel, to the rear diffuser, to the leather carbon fiber trim on the dash. Good to see a conventional manual in the car right off the bat.

One thing I noticed was the power button on the middle console like that on a M5/M6, does the M3 have two different power modes as well?

The brand spankin' new M3 is the best car in it's class so I suggest you all get used to it...

Styling:
Winner: Audi RS4 (interior and exterior wins imo)
Second Place: BMW M3
Not even on the scorecard: The Lexus IS-F is just freaking hideous so I give this a negative score, especially considering how good looking the standard car was and how 'boy racer gone baby racer' the car was morphed into for the IS-F.

Without the M3 being out yet I'm still willing to bet that the Audi RS4 is the better car here. However, these cars are very different (coupe vs. sedan) so this is a comparison that needs to be made when the M3 sedan hits the streets. Audi's RS series is amazing in all regards and is simply hard to beat. While the M3 will win in sales simply because it's BMW, if I was walking into a dealership today to buy one, I'd get an RS4 before a M3 sedan without thinking twice about it.

I would be interested to find out how you came to this conclusion considering the M3 has been class leading since its conception. I don't disagree that the RS4 is an excellent car, however lets wait until the M3 comes out to make statements like that. Oh and the weight difference between the 335i coupe and sedan is about 20 pounds. I doubt the M3 sedan will be much different.

And the exhaust note you cannot judge from a video. Do I need to remind anyone of how Pontiac made the 2004 GTO sound over the internet? That thing sounded mean and menacing and you instantly fell in love with it. Then, the car comes out and that car was the quietest V8 known to man. It was obvious that they shoved the microphone deep down inside the tailpipe's to get that sound and even then probably had to amplify it. Holden is not known for throaty exhausts. They are luxury performance vehicles and Pontiac was just trying to win their market over with a nice exhaust, but it was all lies. Anything over a computer can be forged very easily to sound or even look like something it's not.

Even ugly cars can be made to look nice if shown from the right angle. Sort of like the Lexus IS-F... although they haven't found the angle yet to cover up that peacock face looking car.

The M3 sound is not weak at all. How can you base judgment on a video you see on the internet? How can you say the IS-F is any better when all you have seen is just videos as well? Wait till they hit the floors first and then come to a conclusion.

The M3 is an overall great handling masterpiece and it has lots of pedigree. The IS-F I think lacks the heritage and precision steering the M3 is known to have. The Lexus is the new kid on the block and all the hype in the world can't make it the great car you all cult members have come to believe.

Throw the marketing out the door and when it comes out go see for yourself. However keep in mind that sound means nothing when the car handles sluggishly. IS-F is not a 2 door to even compete with a sedan so I don't see any comparison already. Wait for Lexus to come out with a proper 2 door sports car and then compare all you want.

Agent63, I definitely hope so that Lexus will make a two door IS-F and a hardtop convertible.
