2008 MINI GETS BMW'S EFFICENT DYNAMIC TECH, CHALLENGES HYBRIDS

MINI (officially) announced that all variants will adopt BMW’s Efficient Dynamics Tech goodies, first shown on the recently facelifted 1 & 5 Series. Thus meaning, from August 2007, all MINI versions will be equipped as standard with Brake Energy Regeneration, Auto Start-Stop Function and Switch Point Display systems (each explained after the jump).

Sounds Greek? Well, to put it simple, CO 2 emissions have been reduced by 7,2 -11,9% while consumption, between 6,5 and 12,8% (depending on the engine). Undoubtedly, the most impressive figures come from the MINI Cooper D (diesel) which is capable of returning a whopping 60,3 mpg or 3,9 lt/100 km (!) with CO 2 emissions of just 104 g/km -and as MINI playfully notes, “No batteries required"

Hmmmm, same CO2 emissions (104g/km) as Prius, yet even more economical: 3.9L/100km combined (Prius: 4.3L/100km combined). Not to mention diesel is usually cheaper across Europe than gasoline.

And even better performance: v_max=195km/h, 0-100km/h in 9.9sec (vs 170km/h and 1-100km/h in 10.9sec for Prius).

Good job, MINI!

Expect Clubman D this fall to come with same economy & emissions - yet with even more space than Cooper D.

Toyota better come with improved Prius ASAP!

If you can't get over your own need for a fashion statement, and see the automobile as it stands then you will never be able to appreciate anything that doesn't match your shoes.

This is not to say that I don't understand the idea that a car can have a reputation that ruins its experience. Most of the time the fashion follows the form. Chrysler Sebring, Convertible Corvette's of the past, and many other cars were either doomed from the start or they were just meant for that market which buys based on status, and style, and cares nothing of the cars attributes. It is unfortunate that cars like the Miata, and Mini get thought about in that same manner.

They are true drivers cars, which some people buy cute accessories, and others buy to drive. Is it clear that you are lumped into the earlier, and therefore don't like the mini because it doesn't match?

all the nerds love the mini. little do they know it gets no real love from the girls. just a "oh thats cute" or "hey you have the same car as me!" but i guess if you dont have the scratch for a real bmw, then you'll have to settle for nerdy girls.

It's not about the car it's about the person who drives it. A car may get you girls but a car can not keep a girl because it will be all depending on how smooth you are with the ladies.
