World's oldest car returns to Germany

Stuttgart, Germany - An 1888 Benz Patent Motor Car, considered to be the world's oldest original automobile, is returning temporarily to Germany for display at the Automuseum Dr. Carl Benz in Ladenburg. The car is on loan from the Science Museum in London, which has owned it since 1913; it will return to England in November 2008.

mercedes is a true engineer in term of auto production. they were the pioneers of the time and if it was not for them the rest of the world would not have had inspiration to build good cars of today.

Toyota would not exist if it were not for the ability to clone what others developed before them. Having said that, however, I would love to own the fully restored 1936 Toyoda Model AA that now sits in the Toyota Automobile Museum.

the Toyoda family started making looms decades before they got into cars. from the start, they were innovative. they took out patents on an IMPROVED loom design, which WESTERN companies LICEBSED so they too could have the latest and best machines!

at a time when many euro plants had barely made the transition from one-by-one craft manufacture to mass production as developed in the u.s., toyota motors was developing the LEAN production system which would make mass production obsolescent.
