SPY PHOTOS: Nissan GT-R Latest

After six long years since the Nissan GTR Concept was first unveiled in October 2001, the wait is now only months away, with the public and market debut at the Tokyo Motor show this October. Production is set to commence immediately after its debut with first Japanese deliveries occurring simultaneously throughout the winter. Sales in the U.S. and Canada are set to start in the Spring of 2008.

The GTR is expected to be available in three different model levels. Despite our previous reports of a 4.5 liter V8 engine delivering 450hp, it is now commonly known that it will be a 480hp twin-turbo V6 engine in the standard base GTR as well as the middle level GTR V-Spec.

I think this is a point most of us on forget. I love the fact that nissan is heading in this direction. The consumers will be the ones to benefit, because it will force the Germans and Lexus to produce a competitor for this beast.

I agree that this car is a great kick in the butt to our favorite brands for even faster, more innovative cars. I even like this car for what it is. But GT2RS Clubsport? Money buys a lot of things and lots of money buys lots and lots of things. There's got to be a point when the boatloads extra that your Porsche costs is actually buying you something over the competition in performance. I can see the GT2RS Clubsport being one of those instances.

Its targeting the 997 911 Turbo, not the 997 GT2 or even GT3 for that matter.
