GM offering Toyota and Honda test drives at dealerships

Of course the Accord and Camry will not be rigged or abused in any shape or form as to give any advantage to the Aura. I'd rather go next door and drive one from the real dealership.

And where the hell is the EV2? I want my BEV, damn it! Do you hear GM?

Where is the Altima in this comparo. That sedan is far better then the Camary and Saturn. I not saying about the Honda as it is an old model. Gotta wait for the new model

Altima has the looks of the group. The interior is a wasteland of cheapness. The CVT tranny is garbage. The Accord and Camry are the benchmarks to beat in the group.

As mention before by another poster here on this website. It would be really funny if the person end up buying the Camry or Honda instead.

I just thought about this. I think the real reason that GM is so confident about the viability of the Saturn Aura against the Camry and Accord, is that the Aura is really an OPEL from Germany. It is not a home grown (US)GM product. So basically what you have is a pretty well regarded german product competing against two japanese makes.

It definitely takes guts for Saturn to do it. But most people buying the Camry or Accord choose there cars because of long term reliability and resale value. Neither of which can be experienced on a test drive.

and mpg, price, and resale are also a reasons that cannot be test driven. do they plan on putting window stickers on the Camcords, or displays of blue books?

You don't buy a car because of the warranty. You buy it because you probably won't need to use the warranty alot. What you'll see is alot of people going to Saturn stores getting low pressure test drives on the Hondas and Toyotas. The Aura is a nice car but it's too new and is still GM. Wonder how much money they lose per Saturn?

One more thing. I think as far as looks, and style wise, the Aura tops both Camry and Accord.

FatBoy3000 is completely clueless. An Ion is not based on a European platform capt. goof. The Opel chassis's will help Saturn out but they've got workout the GM bugs that have infested them for the past 7 years.

Don't hate on Formula cuz he speaks the truth. Just look at the people who drive Altimas and that says it all.

I can't wait to see the new Accord, but as of right now, I believe the Camry is the best-looking out of all of it's competition. The rear of the Altima is just too much, and the Aura is great, but a Camry with an SE-R (or whatever the package is called, the one that gives you the blacked-out grille?) is the most sporty-looking.

Will - I agree with that 100%. The Camry SE-V6 (with the body kit and black mesh grill) is so attractive. It blows all the midsize sedans out to me.

I think you guys forgot the Fusion now that has the looks of the class in my opinion thats the reason i bought it, well also for great handling but yeah..

This has not worked in the past- maybe saturn will have comparably equipped cars to test? chevy/geo offered comparison events with competitors and little test tracks. The competitor cars were under equipped, econo tire/rim models.
Chrysler did the same thing-put fully equipped sebrings with 16" performance tires on closed loop test drives against base models of accords, camrys and the like with econo 15" tires. 40 seconds of ABS and sidewall riding understeer fun and a professional passenger telling you to slow down cause they are the professional to distract you from the absurdity of the whole comparison.
It might work with saturn- the saturn attracts more non-GM customers, this might help sway a few more. they should put a saabaru trailblazer out there to make the comparison more interesting. They're born from jets.

First off Saturn was designed to compete against the imports in the late 80s and did a decent job seeing that no other domestic car at the time could compete. And secondly Nissan has dang near fallen off the reliable map lately. Their resale value is way below Honda and Toyota. And Hyundai maybe be a good value to some at the beginning but have tried trading one in with a few miles on it!!! They drop like rocks.

They're nice...if that's what you like. The tranny's can be tempermental though. They had a bug in them that wouldn't allow the tranny to downshift to the correct gear. Almost got me killed crossing an intersection.
