Silly marketing communications effort if you ask me. No explanation of what this thing does and why. Another gimmick?

You know, I have never really minded the J-gate myself, but I understand that it is one of the more disliked things in Jags. This new system promises to be unique yet functional.

Incidentally, have you been to the Jaguar design briefings website? They have tons of video and you learn more there, I think, than from any review or report. They also came out with the new one recently, but for me the Materials and Sound one was particularly interesting.

I remember you sell jags. How could I forget? I thought twice about even asking about the design briefing stuff, as I would have been surprised if you hadn't seen it...I feel a little sheepish now.

Hmmm...as to getting advance information, you haven't happend to have been availed of any information about oh...a certain large sedan due to come in 2010 have you?

Oh, I like pretty. I do have one question, you don't happen to know if they will retain the hood ornament in the US do you, eve as an option? It is possible that they haven't even thought about it, and I know that is an awfully specific thing to ask. I honestly don't like the current leaper- it is just too small. It looks like a toy while the previous generation one was large enough to look like a small sculpture. I'm sure they did this for some safety reason, they may not be able to get around it even if it were retractable.

You don't have to answer that if you don't want to even if you do know- I understand.

jagexpert: It takes one to know one, or are you seeking brownie points from your supervisor at Jaguar? I did ask the question you object to because the article does not provide any info consistent with what you said. The article simply provided a bunch of pics that, to me, implied a possible cloning of BMW's dreaded iDrive. The console is still there so how is cabin space improved? I think this new system is a gimmick and a confusing safety hazard. If you really want to dump the console for more cabin space then have a fresh look at the old "three on a tree" or Chrysler's old pushbutton drive. Maybe you are too young to remember those approaches to driver convenience. Padddle shifters are a good thing but I see no advantage to what Jag has done at the center console.
