REVIEW: Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead

What a stunning car it has turned out to be. It's far more than just a Phantom limousine with the roof removed, and every panel is new - including the rear-hinged doors, which give great access to the cabin.

Amazing detailing abounds, with a brushed steel bonnet and a rear deck made of solid teak. The hood is also a work of art. The largest of any car currently on sale, it has five layers of fabric and is lined with cashmere.

Apparently one can spend over 200000 pounds in options. The brushed steel bonnet is over 6000 pounds, and the teak decking on the hood cover is 5000 pounds.

bentley azure looks old and is old same platform from 70's. this rolls royce is the best car in the world, the metal, hood the best interior in the world, the paint, the wheels, the grille , the total package, if you with this car most athletes and entertainers will been impressed.

The Azure is actually a pretty new platform. I've also heard that Bentley is developing new flagship cars (REALLY new).

Rolls Royce had serious shortcomings for years: short front seat cushion length comes to mind and that was not fixed until 1997 if my memory serves me well. I recall that they finally added one full inch to the seat cushion length in 1997 and felt the need to boast about it. Modern Phantoms look too boxy (a la 1980's) but the bodies are now made of aluminum which is a strong point. Who cares about the platform as it is not shared with lesser vehicles in any event. The Azure may have an older platform but its suspension is fully independent all around.
