SCC Ultimate Aero hits 242 mph - gives top speed record another go
Back in March, SSC’s Ultimate Aero failed to top Bugatti’s top speed record of 253 mph for the fastest road-legal production car. SSC closed down a 12 mile stretch on Nevada’s Highway 93 to run the tests. With only two attempts made due to weather conditions, the Ultimate Aero was able to reach a top speed of 230 mph.

Now, Junus Khan, SCC’s marketing director, is claiming that the Ultimate Aero has successfully completed additional testing sessions reaching a top speed of 241.4 mph on May 22. SCC is still trying to get the results documented with data acquisition firm Deweton.

The company is now hoping to officially break the top speed record in the “very near future.”

who cares? the bar is hideous and looks like a 15 year old Diablo. Even if it goes 500mph it won't have even a fraction of the allure of the Bugatti.

I would agree that this car doesn't touch the Bugatti when it comes to panache and luxury.

I think some people are just blinded by performance and prestige. I know a lot of people will probably disagree with me but I believe that the some of the ugliest popular super cars have been this, Mercedes SLR, Ferrari Enzo, and the Bugatti Veryon(flame suit on).. I'll even admit that my favorite super car, the Mclaren F1, has an ugly back end and wheel combination.. I'm not saying that I'm not wowed by them but I just don't find them attractive.. Especially the Veryon.. Maybe the hype killed it for me because I can't stand people even talking about it.. (The rear end does look nice though :) )

To me, I think this car doesn't have the presision and passion of the Bugatti Veyron, the makers of this car just want a top speed record. What Bugatti did was to get a speed record, but with the feeling that you're driving a great car.

Please don't criticise me as I'm only a 12 year old kid.

But feel free to express your opinions.

Don't worry...feel secure knowing that some of those that will criticize you are as mature as an 8 year old child. Besides you sound pretty intelligent to me...would never guess you were 12!

By the way presision=precision. Thanks for your comment!

When did 241.4mph become 242mph? Did I miss something or did someone try to squeeze in 1/10 of a second so they could round up?
