this list does not make sense, like most of the cars are coups and convirtable and s4 please dude just stop, your always like yea i expected the audi and honda/acura or yea they are the best.

That's because they ALWAYS get amazing safety ratings, not because I'm an Audi nut.

S4cabrio is high as usual. Any guy who owns a cabrio probably carries a purse that matches his shoes.

Even though I'm an LS lover, I'm pretty disappointed to see that the LS460 or RX330 didn't make it with all the safety hype Lexus has been spewing..

Funny, the A4 in Europe only gets 4 out of 5 stars ENCAP.

Did NOT expect the Corvette.

Exactly, I mean when you see the SL on the list, you expect to at least also see the new S class too, which is not only a large sedan, but also has the new generation safety technology from Mercedes..I dont understand..

Forbes is no foolish publication. It is a serious magazine for serious people. They don't waste time. It's just like when those "Best Places to live" comes out. That doesn't mean it's the places most people WANT to live - it means those places fit the criteria. When doing an experiment the best way is to look at as many variables as possible - and that is what they did. Most of the cars that were on here did great on crash tests - but that was only part of the factor. There were some cars that were not part of the equation for various reasons. I read this a few weeks ago and will try and find the link so people can actually read it first hand and understand. Why is everyone so upset? Is it because their personal favorites weren't on.

Here it is folks. Though they admit that it is not perfect - it is a very thorough study. Read it before we think it's biased.

These kinds of articles are absurd. Big Science or B.S. for short.

Kind of like "Volvos are safe: - Volvo drivers might be safe (conservative), but, IMHO Volvos aren't safer than a lot of other cars. Common sense says that if you are T-boned by a pickup truck at an intersection, a BMW Seven series is safer than a Z4.

To earn a spot on our list, a vehicle had to have at least two of the following:

--CR's highest-possible rating for accident-avoidance capabilities.
--Perfect NHTSA crash-test scores across the board.
--Perfect IIHS crash-test scores across the board.
--A substantially better-than-average (i.e. lower-than-average) frequency of insurance injury-claim filings, according to the HLDI.

Please people - read the actual article first before we make judgements.

Isn't the Freestyle based on a Volvo V70? You feel stupid now don't you? If you can't afford any of the cars on the list we understand but please don't display your lack of knowledge on this subject matter.

Every freaking week or two, a review come out and says this and that. The following week another report from a different source say the opposite.

Forbes...went through Consumer Reports...who went through the IIHS...who went through the HLDI.

Too many red taping from all these sources. Half the real safest cars of 2007 probably didn't make it onto this final list.

When you read the actual article and their criteria you will see that you had to fit two of the four to make the list. Three cars made three out of the four and were named "safest" - the Acura RL, Audi A4, and Saab 9-3.

These results are freakin loaded with kinds of manufacturer kickbacks!! Corvettes and BMWs use plastic fenders. The RL couldn't even get out of it's own way with that sorry powerplant. And I'm sure to do damage if my 2001 Trooper hits the Mazda and Civic. What the heck is Jag doin on the list, half the time they're not even on the road do to shop work. Totally whack list.

Oh yeah...how does the Ford Freestyle make it but none of the Volvo P2 cars do? They're the same freakin chassis!!!
