A Limited Edition Porsche Boxster

A Limited Edition Porsche Boxster
Birmingham, Alabama - The executives of Porsche America have just confirmed their decision to produce a Limited Edition Boxster sporting the same orange paint as last year’s 911 GT3 RS.Initially, this project was supposed to be a mere styling exercise, but in light of the strong reaction from enthusiasts and owners, the German automaker chose to manufacture 500 units for 2008: 250 base models and 250 S models.
In addition to the less-than-subtle hue, the car also features new black accents with the accessories of the optional Sport Package. Complementing the design are sleek, 18- or 19-inch black wheels with silver lips, black intake vents and black script “Boxster” badges on the trunk lid.

I actually completely agree with you on that Sailor. I really really hate the Boxster, with a passion. Only reason somebody would buy one is because they can't afford the 911. That is the ONLY reason. I don't even think it's a good design. I was a fan of "lesser" Porsches in the 80s, I always like the 944, but now even the Caymen I can't stand. 911 is really the only way to go if you want a Porsche, if you can't afford one, you need to get something other than Porsche. People talk about BMW owners being poseurs, I would say Boxster owners are the epitomy of poseurs.

Formula1:

You do have a point there. I have a 2001 E320 and a 2004 E500, Even though the E500 has faster accelaration. I prefer to take the E320, simpler controls to deal with and obviously, if I need to park it on the street, I am not so worried I will get the car scratch up or dented. People who see me with the E320, might think I couldn't afford the E500, but the truth is I own one too. Don't drive that fast in the city and the E320 is more fuel efficient. The people who look at you and think you cant afford the more expensive one, are the same people who can even afford one in the first place.

Yeh _ have to agree with formula 1 on this. I love the 911 and yes it does have more power. However other then a little more go power you are not being short changed in the sports car department. I mean if you take the attitude that the 911 is the "only" Porsche one should buy why don't you go all the way and say it must be the GT3 RS or you are wasting your time. Or perhaps you should say only the air cooled cars were "true" Porsche's. It's a little ridiculous. A Boxster and Cayman share much of the 911's DNA plus 2 great advantages. 1)They are mid engine and have fundementally better handiling characteristics then the 911(excluding the GT3)2)The can be significantly cheaper if you are careful with options. Also a proven fact(excluding the GT3)if Porsche chose to they could make the Boxster/Cayman a better perfroming car then the 911. A simple engine swap would do the trick or even more aggresive tuning of the 3.4 engine. We all know that Porsche has delibrately held back engine performance in the Boxster/Cayman so as to not upstage the 911.It's already been proven that a Cayman S with PASM will lap the ring faster then a base 911. I will admit the classic 911 shape though is beautiful. Other then a bigger engine it is "NOT" a better car to drive then a Cayman or Boxster.

See I like the Boxster, but the Cayman I can't stand at all.

But if I had the money I would have a 911.
