Clarkson likes the Audi R8 more than the Lambo Gallardo

When Jeremy first laid eyes on the images of the Audi R8, he thought it was boring and seemed like an Audi TT on steroids. He thought it was a stupid move for Audi, who owns Lamborghini, to make a car that would compete with its own brand. Even when he sat inside the car, he felt it was a bit boring and very Audi-ish for a car that tries to look so menacing. Admiring the comfortable ride of the car, Jeremy was still yet to be awed by the Audi R8.

A car once again gets acclaim for brilliant track AND road performance. I totally disagree with him on the exterior of the R8 though. And honestly, at around $118K this car is a bargain considering the car it is based off of, and the other cars that are in its price range that can't even perform half as good.

I like R8 but from some angle it does look like a big, stretched TT (Not a bad thing).

But again 118K for an Audi.

Why don't u get a Porsche,AM Vantage,used Ferrari,used lambo...etc instead.

A better car,More Street and badge appeal,resale value...etc

Seeing production numbers on the R8, I won't worry muich about resale.
It will be more exclusive than a F430.
Plus to find a used F-car in the $118k, you will have to go way back!
The AM Vantage is very disapointing in terms of performance..absolutely gorgeous car, probably the best in it's class, but performance disapoints.

You just sound like a badge whore. Don't think about the marque- think about the car. The R8 is sexier than the Porsche, more luxurious than the Ferrari and Lambo, faster than the Aston and cooler than all of the above, because it's so exclusive and fresh.

Information:
Here in Alain (city of Abu Dhabi,UAE)in one showroom(i won't name it) they sold two R8s for 1.25M and 1.2M respectively.

That is USD 340K and USD 326K.

Yes u heared it right but Can u believe it.

and more 5 R8s are booked,which will come in Nov.

On resale:
As we all know that every time a major new car comes(and if it is a Supercar) it makes a lot of noise(atleast for a year).

My point is In 2009 buy one R8 for 118K,put 10K-15K miles on it and try selling it.That's why i said resale value.

Not a case with porsche,Ferraris,lambo,astons...etc

But the R8 is just so good. You have to respect that.

I might get one. It's a ton of money, but the car is just unbelievable. Yes, I could also get a V8 Vantage, but why? Less power, less interesting to look at, undrivable in the Chicago winter and simply, it doesn't fit my personality. I'm not a snobby, "I have an Aston Martin" kind of a guy. I'd like to see the look on people's faces when I tell them "I have an Audi" and they watch me drive off in the R8, expecting an A4.

Oh and BTW, resale value will be amazing. The car is selling for $10-20K over sticker right now, and more than that to get it without waiting. It's not just going to drop off- this car has a huge demand, and the waiting list will stretch for quite a few years.

seriously, if you honestly have to think about the resell value when you buy a 118K car, you really should not be buying at all.
