NHTSA to Probe Jeep Wrangler Stalls

DaimlerChrysler AG's 2007 Jeep Wrangler sport-utility vehicles are being investigated by a U.S. safety agency after reports of engine stalling at highway speeds, Bloomberg News reported today.

The probe may affect 35,000 vehicles, including two- and four-door models in front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said today on its Web site.

You have to give it to jeep for making the only off road capable 4x4! Nobody even comes close! WHY ? Why is it we have to buy a jeep if we wanted a real 4x4! This quality issue does not surprise me at all, they have crap quality unfortunatly. Although if I was going to buy a 2nd vehicle for 4x4ing it would be the Rubicon unlimited hands down! What else has two solid locking axles?

Why not a Land Rover Defender 90? or Defender 110? I mean if quality is of no concern why not take the biggest leap of faith huh?

Yes the Defender 90 is a solid platform but also poor quality. The Defender repairs are outrageous here in Canada! A good friend of mine had one and when his tranny went it was $10,000! I am not exaggerating! If you have money to burn it is a blast to wheel in with the removable top but I would rather repair a jeep with the two selectable lockers for way less. Eventually I will build my own 4x4 and nothing will come close!
