BMW Hopes New 1 Series Will Restore Purists Faith

BMW Hopes New 1 Series Will Restore Purists Faith
There has been considerable debate among enthusiasts as to whether or not BMW is living up to its "Ultimate Driving Machine" slogan. A lot has changed since the 2002 was introduced in the late 60s, but BMW is looking to stoke the flames of physics enthusiasts, beginning with the importation of the 1-series to the U.S.

A recent article in Automotive News contends that BMW is well aware of its waning performance image, especially in the realm of compact vehicles. The 3-series can hardly be considered an entry-level ride anymore, and the upcoming 1-series may be able to fill the niche that its big brother has abandoned.

well, they are a for profit company.

but if you want to talk cash cows...that's toyotas expertise. make a handful of similar pedestrian cars in as few variations as possible and go for volume.

I don't get it why 1-series has all this hype right now. I love bmws and I love the 1-series. But wouldn't the Z4M coupe be better than the 1-series in every way? Even if you were to drop a 300+hp engine, for instance the S54 333hp cast iron block into the 1-series, the Z4M coupe would be sweeter handling with its lower center of gravity, shorter wheelbase and longer nose (so that the engine sits further back)?

BTW, you Lexus Loons should get another hobby other than waiting around for these Lexus F cars to come out, bashing all the other cars, expecting them to dominate its competitors the first year they come out. Because they're not going to. A Lexus will be a Lexus. It'll never be an M.

Badge whores? The car has a BMW badge on it, it is made by BMW. Though i'm not a fan of it, it is still a BMW...you can't deny it.

Unlike Lexus, not a badge whore...just buy a Toyota and stop kidding yourselves Lexus are special.
