Danica Patrick Involved in Scuffle After Milwaukee Race

The Indy Racing League has a soap opera on its hands after Danica Patrick scuffled with Dan Wheldon on pit road following the IRL’s race at the Milwaukee Mile.

Patrick confronted Wheldon after they made contact on lap 89 of the ABC Supply/A.J. Foyt 225 at Wisconsin State Fair Park. Patrick ended the exchange by grabbing Wheldon’s elbow and giving him a light shove.

The incident stole the spotlight from Tony Kanaan, who won the race and eased some of the pain of losing the Indianapolis 500 to teammate Dario Franchitti.

Among other things, Patrick said Wheldon needed “a brain check.” Wheldon wasn’t amused.

“If she wants to get feisty, I’m a lot tougher than her on the track,” he said.

Wheldon clearly cut her off or at least veered toward here when she was trying to pass inside. Wheldon was embarrased when she passed him easily on previous laps.
