2008 Subaru Impreza S-GT Official: 250Hp 2.0 Turbo

he 2008 Subaru Impreza was officially released today, June 5, in the Japanese market. While Subie didn’t blow us of our seats in terms of the JDM (Japan Domestic Market) Impreza’s appearance, they did however surprise us with what’s hidden under the hood scoop of the S-GT, or as the rest of the world knows it, WRX; there’s no 2.5-litre Turbo boxer here as we w rongly presumed.

Instead the S-GT wears a 2.0-liter Turbocharged 4-pot boxer delivering 250Hp @ 6.000 rpm and a maximum torque of 33,4 kgm @ 2.400 rpm. Comparatively, the US Spec WRX’s 2.5T has an output of 224Hp @ 5.200 rpm and a max torque figure of 31,2 kgm @ 2.800 rpm. This twist in events with the presentation of the 2.0-liter Turbo S-GT kinda mixes things up for European spec models as the current WRX wears a 2.5-liter Turbo engine.

Isn't the 2.0l engine in Japan there so they can sell the consumer version of their rally car.

I hate that cheap looking back end. It reminds me of a $12 000 Haundai or Kia lower end modell.

Last year Impreza model has my respect!

I think Japan taxes vehicles on the basis of engine displacement. If true, that is no excuse for Subaru to deprive its other customers of the larger 2.5 litre engine.

I really don't like the front end of it. This whole car looks like a Ford to me. Why Why Why!?

The previous generation STi and the current one have basically the same interior and exterior except the front end. However those look much better than these Ford look-a-likes.
