What is Jaguar's X Drive

When the first spy shots of the xf with the jaguar drive were posted here it was hard to figure what it was, now they are showing shots of the xkr, with the jaguar drive system. evidently jaguar drive is mostly just cosmetics (a new way to shift, an old transmission)sorta a james bond type shifter.

How close in effect it will be to the concept cxf show car with its rings that spin, and raise the gear selector up, and than lower it as the car shuts down is unsure, but does anyone else besdes me think jaguars biggest problem is its parent company? jaguar could be alot more than what is now if it would have done a better job with vehicles the concept cls was desighned because jaguar was "thought" to be a threat to mercedes now years later they have dont nothing at all. Now they are masking old hardware with a new body, an interior that looks poor in spy shots and a glitzy shifter.....doesnt sound like a formula for success, jaguar should be a company that is somewhere between mercedes/bmw/lexus and cars like maserati/bentley/aston martin, not between lincoln and the german companies

I hate to kick a company when it is lying down and already half dead but I have to agree with sentiments expressed above by SoCaL. The only Jag I like is the XJ Super V8 but it is so overpriced as to make the Mercedes S-Class look like a bargain. I find the XJ's rear leg room inadequate for a car in that price range. It seems that Jag rests its laurels on outer beauty alone.

Have you guys not heard of the new XK? Have you not heard about the CX-F concept?

the super v8 actually costs about the same as the s550 if not cheaper, because the super v8 at its price is fully loaded, we all know the s class isnt so an s class equipped the same cost more, but than there is the famous jag resale value

I agree with Will. Jag is making a comeback. The new XK is stunning, and the XF will be fighting the CLS for a space in our garage.

"The only Jag I like is the XJ Super V8 but it is so overpriced as to make the Mercedes S-Class look like a bargain."

The Super V8 has 400hp, is loaded with Vanden Plas/XJR features, has a huge back seat, and costs $92K. If I remember, you can't get it past $100,000.

On the other hand, the S starts at $87K, has 380hp, an equal back seat, and nowhere near as many standard features. As much as I love the S-Class, nothing but a more expensive S-Class can make it look like a bargain.

as far as I a concern just another thing to brake, thus pushing Jaguar further down the reliability list.

Funny how they are sitting somewhere at the top of the list right now.

The new XF looks amazing. Check out Road & Track July 2007 to see great pictures. If they make a 300hp version, that and the CLS550 will be the only two remaining cars that we'll look for to replace the RX330. If it has 400hp, I don't know if I can do that, because it would be faster than my S4. I wouldn't let my wife have a faster car than me- she doesn't deserve it!

On the other hand, I guess it sets the bar higher for my next car...

Teenager jagexpert displays his juvenile analytical skills again. Take note jagexpert that the proper way to compare value among brands is to look at the typical vehicle sale price and not the price the vehicle tops out at. The XJ Super V8 should be priced at about two thirds of what the typical V8 S-Class goes for given the Jag's inadequate rear leg room and several other fators I won't go into for the sake of shortening this tedious argument. Are you by any chance practicing for your high school debating team here?

stupid argument especially to insult someone over, it should costs less because rear leg room? value among "categories" not brands has nothing to do with leg room. that would mean according to your argument that the avalon, azera, and maxima, should costs alot more than the 3 series, a4, is etc. that makes no sense if the car is in the same class/category, value has to do with content, features, quality, dynamics, technology, in relation to price
