BMW 1 Series Coupe - Clearest Spy Shots Yet
Finally, these shots show the new Coupe of the BMW 1-Series almost completely free of disguising. Engine options for the stylish 1-series Coupe have yet to be confirmed, but BMW officials have said they do not plan to offer a four-cylinder engine in America – although we believe they will be available in European markets. But we are expecting a version of the magnesium/aluminium 3.0-liter six-cylinder that is currently found in the 130i, as well as the 3- and 5-series, Z4 Coupe and Roadster, and X3 and X5. There is also a strong possibility the 3.0-liter turbo-charged six from the 335i coupe and sedan could find its way into an M version of the 1-series Coupe.

And the base engine will be a 3.0 lol.
You should at least get the 120i...or perhaps they'll give you all the detuned 3.0s - US 325/328/330

Funny how a back-to-basics BMW gets panned here.

Here is a BMW that is sporty and simple, what's wrong with that? Yeah it's small, but get this, it's supposed to be.

Here is a little secret I'll pass along: BMW's are supposed to be sports minded first with luxury features an added bonus.

It is small and more affordable, but it is far more in line with what BMW is than the recent Benz hatchback was with the image of Mercedes.

Well, by back to basics I was speaking more to the overall vibe the car portrays than to styling. It can be a unique design but still evoke the feeling of great little sporty BMWs of the past. It does this by being small and devoid of weight and other needless extras.

I know what back to basics means
My eye sight is perfect.

Please don't waste your time insulting people when there are plenty of other topics for you to post in and expand upon your much-deserved reputation as an ignorant prick.

Not once did I say there was a consipiracy. I was just pointing out that the same jerk-offs like yourself who claim to be "enthusiasts" and chide Lexus for not being sports-minded are dogging a BMW that could offer a no-frills, fun ride.

Since the article discusses much more than styling, my comments were appropriate.

Remember folks that this car is supposed to pay homage to the original 2002..with the pronounced boat line around the shoulder...yes this car company does have history..patience, I think it will turn out just fine

There is actually nothing unpleasant about this car's styling.

It is compact, sporty and different. The 'banana' sill really isn't a big deal because it stands out more in photos than in real life. Unlike most of you, I have seen many a 1-series driving on the roads, and although I am not BMW's biggest fan, I must say it is a funky little car.

And it was designed by an Englishman.

I really like the one series, I drove one (a 120d) last year as a rental on holiday. It was great, and though no car in the 1 series range is going to be massivly spacious in the back it's no worse than alot of other small cars out there.

As far as the styling goes, I like it - but styling is subjective and I know people that don't like it.

I really hope it drives stunningly, I'm sure it will.

What I really hope is the coupe lifts the image of the hatches, I know a few really shallow people that look down on the one series just because it's a hatch-back - they think it's not a proper BMW. 135ti Coupe would be spot on or even a 3.2 litre 343bhp M1 :)

It is really too bad that the U.S customers think hatchbacks are synonym of cheap because it is certainly practicle. I was all prepared to buy a new 1 serie with the 3.5 twin turbo but as a coupe version it is not practicle. Anyway with this kind of power I would rather like to see a quatro version.
