Simple English Translation: We are owned by a near bankrupt Ford and don't have the budget to compete with MB and BMW, and our designers are stuck in a time warp and lack imagination.

And Jag has gotten way better at reliability, too. The XJ was up there with the LS430 in the J.D. Power survey.

Jags sedans usually cost less then their rivals. They are not overpriced. The XJ and XK are amazing cars. They are targeting just over 100,000 cars globally.

Well... the S-Type is overpriced. $49K for the V6 version is just a terrible value compared to the more modern, stylish, luxurious Audi A6 3.2 ($42K), Lexus GS350 ($44K) and even BMW 528i ($44K).

yeah but in the s types defense it has alot less options than the a6, and the s stype has no reason to be the "value" choice in the luxury segment neither does the xk, or xj jaguar may not be selling but by all means they should have the prestige to be priced against mercedes and bmw, and no reason to undercut an audis prices

not just that but compared to bmw and mercedes the s type is still less money the eclass and 5 series are both $50,000 cars and thats without alot of the things many cars in their segments have standard so you are looking at almost 60 grand for either equipped like an s type v6, or much of the competition.

Easier said than done. If they were selling 200K cars in the US (or ten times the amount they're selling here), they'd be sales-hungry.

I think Jaguar has always had that prestigious image about them. As for reliability I have heard many stories but if that's their only problem for their so called "niche" market then that should be the key to selling a good number of cars but not being a mass producer like BMW or Merc.

I like the XJR or the XJ Portfolio model for a luxury saloon. The S and X type need a complete revamp. The XJ is due soon as well but it holds traditional Jag traits as a flagship. The XK is a total modern version of a Jag. One that all the other models should follow as well.

I have always found Jaguar very rare and for the niche market. I always thought they were the alternative to Rolls Royce and Bentley. They all are British brands afterall. Jag should know what prestige is because that's where prestige came from originally. But somehow that prestige was lost and was picked up by the Germans as well.

But I agree with S4, The S type V6 is over priced.

The XJR is a incredible car to drive!

Its smooth, powerfull, solid and still easy on gas. Reliability is exellent and interior is top notch.

Because their design are antiquated. The cars look too old. This "old look appeals to a very limited amount of buyers. That is why their sales have tanked. And the X type was a good idea but stupid design. First they made it too damm small for rear passengers. That simply does not stand in the US. If you are going to sell your self as a luxury auto maker of sedans you have to be able to seat 4 people in some comfort. I sat in the back of an X type at an auto show. I'm 5'7" and I was stuck in the back seat because I could not move my feet to get out. Also the interior trapings have been and are a little cheap looking. That's a turn off to people. The XK currently is the only Jag that looks as good as it's technology inside and out. Until Jaguar or Ford realize that modern style with a modern quality interior sells luxury cars Jaguar will fail.Let's hope they don't screw up the XF too much from the XCF show car.

Jag's not worried about volume numbers because they're more concerned with getting their cars started to drive off the lot. And stay out of the service bay, they only have space for 100 cars at a time. lol

You being a Jaguar salesman, I take that opinion with a grain of salt. I love the high-end Jags (XJ/XK), and I can't wait for the XF, but the S-Type is not class-competitive by any means. You're not going to sell us over the Internet, LOL.

If the production model of the new Jaguar C-XF look like it concept form, I think it sales many of those. But one problem, the reliability and the quality of the car. I guess we have to wait to find out.

If you think Jaguars are still painful to own and run, you're wrong. The XJ was up to par with the LS430 (reliably), according to J.D. Power. The XK isn't quite as good, but you don't look for great reliability in a glamorous sports car.

I believe the new XF will continue Jaguar's trend upward. Something tells me we'll end up having one in our garage- it seems to be "the one" that my wife has fallen in love with, after seeing the C-XF concept. Only time will tell, but I'm excited.

Toyota has the most money, but Porsche makes the most money per vehicle. Depends on how you look at it.
