2007 Hyundai Sonata: Mid-size Sedan of High Value

There's a new player in the mid-size sedan market, and it's from Hyundai. Yes, Hyundai.

The Hyundai Sonata was showered with media awards last year, when it was redesigned and launched as an all-new model for 2006. MotorWeek called the Sonata the "Best Family Sedan," Kiplinger's Personal Finance named it "Best in Class," Consumers Digest called it a "Best Buy," and Popular Mechanics gave it a "Safety Excellence" award. Meanwhile, the Sonata finished among the top three mid-size cars in the 2006 J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study. The Sonata is a nice vehicle for the segment, I just don't understand how you pass up an Accord AND a Camry for it.

Don't worry, the '08 Accord will scare the competition off their feet.

Would pass up the Camry, but definitely not the Accord. The current generation Camry has a ugly butt that looks Banglised. The Accord also offers more driving fun than the Camry, which floats like a boat on the road.

Is it just my imagination or has the past 12 months been full of magazines playing Hyundai up as the toyota beater .... Everything from Motor Trend to .."insert magazine name here" have been harping on the Veracruz/Sonata/Elantra ...
However, sales show that Toyota is eating Hyundai's lunch/breafast/dinner and late nite snack (including the fortune cookie) ... ( e.g. Camry vs Sonata , old Corolla vs Elantra etc.)

Frankly, with Toyotaq on a roll, the only real copetition for the Camry is the new Accord. ( Who takes the overall sales crown is close but i persume the results will be close)
