Mercedes R8 rival rendering

The R8 just looks soomuch better lol
that car reminds me of toyotas hybrid ft-hs.

The design language does look a bit FT-HS to me too, but it's just the overall shape and tautness of body panels.

Not good. Not good at all. And why would they need this ugly thing to compete with the R8, when they've already got one of the most beautiful competitors in the world....the SL55 (at $125k)

This MB R8 fighter remind me of the current Chrysler Crossfire. Which is very..very .....ugly; this thing is just hideous ugly compare to Audi R8.

This design won't sell. Why? front end looks too mkuch like the McLaren F1 which is not selling well.

This seems like the baby brother with a diffrent rear end.

They should redesign the front end.

Mercedes & McLaren I hope were not expecting great sales with the SLR. I think for its price and the power you get as a super car it did alright. It's rare and unique. It's a beautiful car but if they expected it to sell like an SL they had it all wrong.

They should keep the SLR going meanwhile creating an R8 price range competitor. But I hope it doesn't look like that rendering because it is hideous!

Obviously it's not going to production, even m-b should know it's just ugly. But just the fact that they are envisioning an R8 competitor means that they are shivering up their (silver) underpants.
Still, true: it looks too much like a FT-HS, and too square at that.

BTW, I should hope that Merc has better taste, otherwise ppl have been getting ripped off for about 101 years. Perhaps the animal imagery is what they're looking after, trying a new approach after their Stalin-era monument of an S-class.

RICEY, you obviously haven't seen an R8 on the road. No, it doesn't look amazing in Audi press shots, but it's the sexiest car on the road when you see it in person.

It would never look like this, it's a photoshop, Mercedes show much better taste than that.

This is a photoshop, Mercedes builds the best overall looking cars in the market..I REPEAT, if mercedes was to build a car in this category, style-wise it will be the best...Lets see, SL,CLS,E,S,SLR,CLK,CL...all by far the best looking in their category...

Somebody teach me how to use this Photoshop program. I'm sure that after learning the basics that even I could come up with better photoshops.

Be it a photoshop or not, the point is that it's hideous, and just the fact that m-b sends it out means that they clearly are seeing something similar.
For theman's point, I disagree. The cls looks too much like the stretched coupé that it is, the s class, as I said, is a Stalin-era monument with about the same pereformance, and, worst of all, the clk and slk, which both look like someone designed the too-high rear end as an afterthought, giving the impression that the car is always braking. Furthermore, the R8 IS the best...at least on paper. I haven't had the chance 2 drive one yet. :)

Design would be great for the next generation Caddy XLR, but for a Benz, no.
