Spy photos: the new Alfa Romeo 159 GTA?

As long as they don't convert it into RWD and get the handling right I'm not interested. They should bring back the legendary Alfa V6 (instead of the current GM 3.2 V6 with no soul).

RWD is the way to go and they should add LSD as well. AWD should also be offered. I would not mind the 3.6 litre GM V6 that is going into the 2008 Cadillac CTS.

I agree with both of you on the RWD. The fact is that Alfa has made huge investments into this premium platform so don't bet on change anytime soon. The one thing the can tweek is the AWD(Yes it is offered now!) diff with a larger percent going to the rear wheels.Right now I think it is only 65 or 70%. It should be 90 to 95%. As for the engine, my understanding by 2009 Alfa is coming out with new V6 engines that will not be based on the GM/Holden block. Also They are also using lighter but stronger metal for the body. This is said to lighten the cars up to 230 LBS depending on the model. The lighter weight should help the handling. The original Arese V6 which dates back to the late 70's was a wonderful motor that looked as good as it sounded. Unfortunately it was unable to meet upcoming economy and emmissions.
