Mercedes confirms new GLK SUV

Mercedes has confirmed the release of the 2009 GLK SUV and has announced that the first cars will appear on the market from the second half of next year. This will be the fifth SUV/Crossover model in Mercedes’ lineup, joining cars like the M-Class, R-Class, GL and the old-school G-Class SUV.

Several prototypes have been spotted cold weather testing in Scandinavia, which revealed a design similar to the bigger GL-Class SUV. This rendering, compiled with information sourced from insiders close to the project, show that the new GLK picks up the same angular design theme and ruggedness seen in the rest of the Mercedes SUV range.

I actually kind of like the new "look" Mercedes is starting. This looks like an SUV version of the 2008 C-Class and I think it's pretty nice.

That does look quite nice- baby GL, jacked-up C-Class; call it what you will, but I think it will beat out the X3 and RDX.

Not bad not bad. S4 its interesting you mentioned the X3 and RDX which in my opinion are two of the ugliest ones out there.

I don't mean that negatively, Im just saying that as competition those two aren't that attractive vs. the Benz being quite nice so far. I think the Benz if priced competitively will make big moves int eh segment.

I have to disagree. As a Merc fan my whole life...I still have to give credit where credit is due. I love the X3 and even the RDX, they have great styling.

Have to say the MB suv's arent anywhere near as nice as their cars. The CLS/S/SL/SLK are pretty damn (SL is so damn good) perfect and show the heritage MB has... Their suvs on the other hand dont.
