Mini Diesel Coming to Canada in 2008

The federal government needs to establish a national fuel standard to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, senior auto industry executives said yesterday.

In order to gain maximum benefit from new technologies designed to improve fuel economy and reduce emissions, gasoline and diesel fuels need to be improved, the officials said.

"We need a clean diesel fuel in Canada," said Lindsay Duffield, president of BMW Canada Inc., whose company will start selling diesel vehicles in Canada next year and is considering bringing in a diesel version of its Mini that now sells in Europe..

Ok so I bash BMW about the X6, so I have to praise them for the Mini D. Now bring it to the US.

Yes, diesel works for me. I need the long range for long-distance vacation drives. Too bad the Mini is too small for me as I think that car has a lot of character. Also, I hate CVTs and I won't drive a stick shift at my age. I'm hoping that the new 2008 Mecedes C-class will arrive here eventually with a powerful 4-cylinder diesel of say 2.2 or 2.5 litre displacement, and RWD with LSD.

Guess who test drove the diesel Grand Cherokee and E320 Bluetec.....This Guy (me). All I can say is, they're aweseome. BRING DIESELS HERE

That is not true - the TDI's in Vancouver are constantly sold out as demand is high for it here especially now that Biodiesel is available. We've been driving a Passat TDI for 2 years and its resale value is higher than when we bought it due to demand.
