20% of all cars to have stop-start by 2015

Dr Bernd Bohr, Chairman of automotive component company Bosch, has been recently speaking out against hybrids, saying that the technology isn’t as efficient as it’s made out to be. Bohr, on the other hand, believes that the star-stop technology, which Bosch developed for the new BMW 1-Series, is more efficient and is the start of a new generation of technology.

For non-hybrid (gas-electric) vehicles, what happens to running electrical components when the engine stops? Will a beefier altinator/battery setup handle the electrical load while the vehicle is at rest?

Arg huh , ever seen 4 cars at red light ahead of u , light remains red , and the first 3 cars crawl 1/2 feet each and the car infront of u have a full car length ahead and refuse to crawl forward and makes u block the cross walk ?

Start / Stop wont replace hybrid , End of story

start/go only can deal with full stop , useless
especially on hiway , u dunno when will u need to go again , hybrid can deal with those , unless ur magical stop / go can move the car at stop LOL ROFL

I don't this technology at all, what if you going up on a high hill in, and stop at the red light. Not sure if it a good idea?

It's tried and true though...GM has been using it on their mild hybrids for a while now. I'm sure their engineers thought of that too!!
