Can you Name The Top 10 Sellers Last Month?
The latest list of hottest selling vehicles (those that spent the fewest number of days in showrooms), which is compiled by J.D. Power's Power Information Network every month includes three vehicles that were red hot in May--for three completely different reasons. And each one is an important model for their company. So let me run down the list and touch on the three models I believe are most important on this list.

1. Honda Fit
2. Honda CR-V (tie)
2. Lexus LS Series (tie)
2. GMC Acadia (tie)
5. Audi TT
6. Volvo C70
7. Lexus GX Series
8. BMW X5
9. Toyota Tundra
10. BMW 5 Series (tie)
10. Toyota Prius (tie)
10. Lexus RX Series (tie)
10. Lincoln MKX (tie)

Wow, I never knew the Lincoln MKX would be a great seller. I thought the MKX would die in the market.

The Lexus GX ("the most pointless vehicle in their entire line-up") sold more than the (new) BMW X5?

*shocked*

Amazing how such an ugly SUV like the GX sells. Goes to show that people look at price first, especially Lexus customers.

Yeah. Those damn Lexus customers. How dare they pick a Lexus over a BMW? The modest and reserved lines of the GX are hideous next to all the jarring angles and flames found on the X5. And forget the fact that most BMW X5 sales are probably through leasing...

Forget it all! I'm choosing to stay ignorant just like you, Bill!

the GX is POS, only americans would pay 45k for that!
save your self some cash and get the same thing for 8-9k less...its called the Toyota Prado.

Clearly a lot of people do not share the same feelings as Bill. The numbers are not playing tricks on your eyes: the GX is selling.

I know most of you watch television. Have you noticed the new line of Lexus ads featuring the Mark Levinson systems? There's one with soul musician John Legend sitting in the back of a black GX listening to an old soul music track. It's a well-put-together Lexus commerical as all are. Perhaps this is the reason why the GX sold so much last month?

NOW do German fans see the importance of marketing?

Xerokool: It's a pity then the Range Rover isn't body on frame anymore.
The GX is identical to what we call in Britain the Land Cruiser (which is not your Land Cruiser). The GX has a bit more wood, and is not way more luxurious than the Toyota.
Buckfush, will you listen to yourself? "there's only that many house wives looking for a girly pos like the X5. most people want a real SUV, like the GX."
Are you deluded? Nobody wants a proper off roader, they want soft roaders, and the Land Cruiser cannot cut it against newer offerings.
And you drove all the way over Europe in a GX? A car that isn't sold here? Or were you bending the truth and actually driving a Toyota? (Not that you can tell from the inside).
Please, compare:

with

Identical, bar aluminium in lieu of wood in places.
Quel difference!
Will somebody please tell me why a GX is sooo much better than a Land Cruiser? Is it the badge?

the current crv is an odd ball, but we got the 1st gen and no problems at all. rest of the older crvs were pretty cool.

If this list were done for Europe, there wouldn't be single Lexus in it.

As i said when it came out for you crossover fans give the MKX a look, the machine is very clean looking, the dash is a bit dated maybe but i think it has nice luxury flare to it,Lincoln dealers are trying like the devil to satisfy the clients good job, they are hanging in there.
Watch for the EX crossover in 08', Infinti better gear up this one also, it is going to sell just the right size for the gals, enough macho for the guys.

Here.
When the Audi TT sells better than what is supposed to be a mass market seller, things ain't good.

Before Lexus was a brand there, you don't think the Toyota equivalents of past Lexus models were selling in Asia? The Toyota Altezza, Celsior and Harrier etc. were plenty successful in Asian countries.

I think some of you should re-read the article. Where does it say the Lexus GX470 out sold the BMW X5? All it says is “The latest list of hottest selling vehicles (those that spent the fewest number of days in showrooms)”. It’s a list of cars with a fast inventory turn-over rate. If you check some of the web sites, like http://home.att.net/~fdmeloan/wsb/html/view.cgi-home.html-.html , you would know that BMW sold 2,858 X5’s for the month of May and YTD sales total 14,640. Compare those numbers to the Lexus GX470 with 1,842 unit in the month of May and a YTD total of 8,658.

Prius is on a roll w/a waiting list.

Another thing..

Wi11 (poser), Sometimes when I read racial slurs like yours..I actually don't feel bad white folks getting ass kicked by blacks..I might even join in next time.

Thank You.

These cars are NOT those that sell the most ... but those that have the LEAST time in the lot!!!

Even though i respect Toyota Honda BMW ( cars imported from Japan/Germany ALWAYS have the lowest wait. Because they only import the nos. that will sell)
Cars manufactured in a Local market are less flexible and genrally truer to standard wait time.

And to anwser somebodies question above .. Yes the Yaris outsold the Fit for May.

Thank god you two prove that some of us DO have a brain.... yes, the automakers can to a degree control this statistic by toying with supply vs. the local demand. HOWEVER, as an "industry insider" (whatever that means) I can promise you that this statistic is still crucial to automakers & even moreso to dealers-- most car companies now provide inventory to dealers based primarily on this stat- calling it TURN RATE, or TURN & EARN, etc. Exapmle- if a dealer has an X5 sitting on the lot for 60 days (maybe bad equipt or color), it hurts their chances of getting another one to order.
