I want to believe that Toyota has not given up on the Li batteries, but to be fair and upfront, this article appears to be from June 7. The other article claiming they're dropping Li batteries was reported today...

Here is the original rumor dated on May 29th.

"Toyota is postponing the use of lithium-ion batteries in the next Prius, according to Japan’s Nikkan Kogyo newspaper, citing safety concerns."
