Hertz add 3.400 Toyota Prius Hybrids to His Fleet

Hertz announces on Thursday that it is putting 1,000 Toyota Prius gas-electric hybrids into its U.S. fleet this month. They will be available at 50 big airport locations and in Manhattan.
As we reported today, Avis Budget Group Inc ., the third- largest U.S. rental-car company, said it will offer Toyota Motor Corp.'s Prius hybrid cars as early as next week.

Yeah, i bet this is down to them having back hander from the government and the fact that niave people will see them as going "green", and by renting a Prius they are better people.

It's just too bad that Hertz is renting the Prius for a extra $20 premium-according to CNN. Enterprise rent-a-car has Prius in it's rental fleet since 2004. It rents for the same price of a compact. Now that everybody knows the Prius is a rental, hopefully it won't be degraded like it did on the big 3's.

Actually, renting a car is a great way to try something out without an annoying salesman in the back seat. I wish there was a better selection of rentals anyway.

This is another win for Toyota.
