Chrysler owner shows interest in Jaguar and Land Rover bid
As reported earlier this week, and confirmed by Ford, Ford has officially hired Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley to sell its Jaguar and Land Rover brand. Now, according to German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Cerberus, who recently bought Chrysler, is showing interest in Jaguar and Ford.

Siting London bank sources, the newspaper said that Cerberus, Blackstone and Cinven have shown interest in joining the auction for Ford’s luxury car brands.

It is not clear yet whether both brands will be sold as a package deal but an industry source has told...

If so much as a single Chrysler part comes within 10 feet of the Jaguar assembly line it will end my relationship with Jaguar.

I detest Chysler with their crappy interiors and knock-off styling. The latter of these two is completely disgusting to me.

I just hope that whoever buys Jaguar, realizes that the less they interfere and let Jaguar, make Jaguars the better both will be.

Although the new XK is a great car and the CXF is looking good. There may be light at the end of the tunnel.

That is why I personally like the idea of it being purchased by a corporation that has zero experience in the car industry. I think such would guarantee to some extent the independence of the company- I would hope.

...but not Cerberus. I will NEVER put money in the coffers of those disgusting malignant copycats known as chysler.

As the current owner of a Chrysler, your words are harsh!...

...but as an admirer of the Jaguar brand overall, I agree with you.

Having no idea how Cerberus will handle Chrysler, let alone more than one car company, there is a legitimate concern for platform, parts, and resource sharing.

I'm Sorry, Will. Nothing personal and no slight to your taste meant.

My only real problem with Chysler is that they have taken to creating more affordable versions of more expensive cars- or so it seems. The problem is that in the process they mimick the exterior designs way too closely, and for some reason that really really bothers me.

It's okay. I would have never even thought about a Chrysler 300C had it not been for my wife. Sure, there's vinyl and plastic-galore on the inside, and the outside is a chunky and somewhat awkward rendition of a Bentley...

...I have no idea how to finish that statement.


As with all cars I've owned, I've come quite smitten with it, but believe me, I would have been much happier if she had liked something else like a Jaguar S-Type for instance...

You know the 300 for me wasn't so bad by itself, but it really started to bother me when they came out with the Imperial concept. It seemed to blatant.

I am glad to hear that you are smitten with it, and it is something which I fully understand. My Jaguar is by baby.

Will, you don't want an S-Type. The X-Type and the S-Type (any current Jaguar models that end with "-Type") are from the dark ages of Jaguar. Wait until the XF comes out and see if she likes that.

Hey Will!!! Whats wrong with our 300C's? Although my monster is thirsty all the time, I cant complain too much about it. It still gets looks and the interior isnt "that bad". It just could have been better.

Just Land Rover. Jaguar makes very reliable cars.

And Land Rovers (especially the Range Rover and RR Sport) are so good-looking that you can overlook the reliability (no pun intended).

S4 sorry I have been really busy so I didn't get a chance to reply to your message from that LS thread. Anyways about the slightly used S63 I'd say go for it. It's a nice car and it will get you many turned heads if that's what you're looking for. It's fast, luxurious, high quality, and still very comfortable despite the sportiness.

However if it's between a brand new S550 and a used S63 it's a tough decision. Personally I would prefer the brand new. Nevertheless it depends on the condition after usage.

If you're spending that much on a car I would say spend it on a sports car (R8) if you're wanting it. IF you want luxury then the S600 would be even better than the S63 as it's less sporty.

Ahh cars tough decisions. too many nice ones out there.
