Actually Isuzu will make it, there appear to be buying the whole engine lock, stock, and barrel and rebadge it..

And Toyota knows a lot about rebadging...

I'd say because not everyone wants to buy a hybrid right now because they think that diesel is better than hybrid. Mainly I suppose this will be for the European market, otherwise, because diesel is big there.

It's hybrid and not diesel that is dead in my book. Hybrids have a lot of battery weight to lug around and the eventual cost of replacing these batteries results in an unattractive life-cycle cost. You guys can all argue until you are blue in the face as to whether a German or Japanese company will have the cleanest diesel. I'll put my money on GM. I believe that the latest diesel technology is well known to all manufacturers and the "cleanliness" differences will be minute.

My point is that a lot of the Toyota fanbous here claim "Toyota will never invest in diesels". This article proves otherwise.

BMw, Mercedes-Benz, Opel, Fiat, Audi, Citroen, Peugeot and even KIA have diesels that exceed Euro V.

Diesel is NOT the way. Its the hybrid which is somewhat of stepping stone towards hydrogen technology...although I may be incorrect here. But Diesel is definetely not the way to go. I think most of us understands this but just not admitting it. Cute.

That's great news. I hope Toyota will bring over a Diesel powered Lexus GS one day. I'll be pre-ordering one.

Which means that they are going to GET RID OF diesel production...

they want to use it for the new tundra.

BMW used some Toyota diesels in their Mini-D line. They took a lot of shit for it too as it got horrible MPG compared to gasser and high CO2 levels so they got taxed more.

BMW only bought that engine because at the time they hadn't a really small diesel engine.

But it was genuine rubbish. Even BMW engineers reprogrammed to ECU to about 86 horsepower, it remained rubbish and really not so frugal. (for a diesel that size)

Um, how will Toyota take away the diesel market from the Germans? Please explain your bullshit theories for all of us to hear, thank you.

You know those Opel diesels they use in Europe? Those are from ISUZU and they're not exactly class leading. Isuzu may be Japan's most advanced manufacturer of diesels, but they apparently don't compare with the German and French diesel engines, especially in emissions.

Isuzu no longer delivers the rubbish 1.7 cdti engine (also found in the previous Hondas) to Opel. Currently FIAT is the supplier. Some diesels however still use some Isuzu R&D.

Europe is less significant?

What are you trying to say? Toyota is so environmentally conscious? Bullshit with a big capital B. If Toyota "cared" so much for the environment, then they'd stop producing their gas-guzzling SUVs for instance. Of course Toyota is out to make money, like ALL carmakers so stopping SUV production is out of the question.
