Audi Sales Chief Says US and China Sales Will Each Exceed 200,000 Vehicles

According to a report today by Automotive News, Audi plans to double sales figures in the United States and China to 200,000 vehicles each by 2015. US Sales for 2006 were approximately 90,000 units.

By 2015, Audi hopes to sell 1.5 million vehicles, up from last year's 905,188 units. Audi sales chief also projected A5 sales of approximately 50,000 globally during the first year of production.

Next year, the brand will roll out its Q5 mid-size SUV and a cabrio version of the A3 compact.

Do you really think most people (ie ordinary people buying 320ds etc) care which wheels are being driven?
Audi has outsold BMW in Europe this year (I believe) and far outsells it in China.
Lexus sells half of what Audi does world wide, the US is its life-blood.

Rupert, yes, Audi has outsold BMW. If I remember correctly, through April, here are (approx) sales numbers:

Mercedes-Benz: around 260,000

Audi: around 245,000

BMW: 217,000 (I don't know why I remember that so clearly)

Seriously, everyone keeps ignoring North America when it comes to Audi. Although they steadily increase percentage-wise, what does that really mean for the brand overall? They better watch out, we all know Lexus is just as focused, if not more focused, on increasing market-share worldwide as much as Audi is.

BMW and MB are there in South Asia.(India...etc).

Audi is non-existent there.

Therefore i think Audi should focus not only China but south Asia too,like India).

I've read that in China, the A6 outsells all the cars in BMW's lineup (combined). That's pretty amazing, if you ask me.

The Audi A6 outsells all the BMWs in China, combined. The A6 is also the highest-selling vehicle in its segment, worldwide. Audi has outsold BMW in Europe this year.
