Ford '08 Escape, Mariner off to Great Starts

DEARBORN, June 15, 2007 - Auto analyst Jim Hall is not surprised that the new 2008 Ford Escape had a banner May, the first full month that dealers have had ample supplies of the new model.
"It's a darn good redo on an existing vehicle," said Hall of AutoPacific. "They (made) it look fresh. It drives better than the previous car did too. All of this in a vehicle that has been cost-reduced (in a way) that is pretty much transparent to the customer, which is pretty much the way you should do cars now."

I have the last generation and I won't be buying a new one....hate the interior.

But they are selling a whole bunch. Good job on Ford's side.

wasnt there a recall for the current escape with an ignition problem? it affected a hlf mill.

I had a 2008 V6 Escape rental for awhile.
The ride sucked....It was just terrible
Ditto with the engine--horrible refinement and not fast for 200hp.
Everything else, though, was great. The interior was great, very well constructed and good materials.

How do you expect a 4,000lb SUV to be fast with only 200hp? A 200hp V6 is just terrible.
