A Trip to Scion Backstage 2007 and a Short Take on the New 2008 Scion xB
Scion, Toyota's youth oriented brand has been on the market for only about four years, but Toyota has managed to hit their target market head on. One of the main reasons that Scion is one of the most recognized car brands among younger drivers is because of their marketing. Scion is not pitched as only a car brand, but a lifestyle. When you buy a Scion you are not only getting a "cool" ride, but you are also gaining access to a community.

This is where Scion Backstage comes in. This event takes place all over the country and it is a chance for Scion enthusiasts, owners and future owners to gather and celebrate everything that has to do with Scion. Attendees can check out the latest Scions, display their own customized rides and check out other ways that they can personalize their cars.

Toyota ruined the XB. I was getting ready to finally buy one then was told that they wheir not taking any orders for the 06 cause the 08 where coming.

So they made it 800 pound heavier so to compensate they added a bigger engine which leads to 10 mpg less than the previous model. WTF??? Then there is a huge blind spot with those giagantic C pillars. WTF again???

So now looking at used XB's.

Seems like the Pontiac Aztec and Honda Element can finally rest easy. The new xB has single-handedly redefined the term fugly. Graceless, lumpy and bloated, lacking even the debatable charm of its predecessor. If you've ever wondered what the result would be if a delivery van mated with a PT Cruiser, you now have your answer. And sadly, it sounds like it inherited its driving dynamics from the delivery van side of the family. If this thing is representative of what the second generation of Scion will be like, then Scion is clearly a one-hit wonder.

Not ugly. Has lots of character. New larger engine is most welcome. My comments are academic because my wife hates it and it is not available in Canada.

It just looks wrong, too boxy, very small headlights, terrible grill, stupid bodykit. Scion has a winner!
