More Lexus LF-A pics

Lexus has always positioned itself as being more about luxury than outright sportiness, but that’s about to change with the new LF-A coupe due to be launched later this year. Competing against cars such as the Audi R8 and BMW M6, the LF-A will likely be powered by a 5.0L V10 engine churning out 500hp. The LF-A will also be available in a hybrid variant, as we reported here earlier, but it’s unknown how much power this version will have or what effect the heavy batteries and extra motor will have on the handling and weight.

Its front mid-engine placement, along with a rear-mounted transaxle and rear-mounted radiators, should allow for excellent weight distribution. Lexus has billed the concept LF-A as having a top speed in excess of 200mph, and we have no reason to doubt the production version will reach these limits if it’s sold unrestricted.

This car is horrible. For one, there's no German badge...

No history, no prestige, no magic feel, value-priced...

This car is a disgrace.

You are wrong!!!

Everyone knows that history, prestige and that always special "Germanesque" are the MOST important aspects of any and all cars! Get it through your head! NOBODY in the world wants a Lexus!

OPINION.

I agree with what it will compete with, and I think its closest competitor will be the R8 V10.

But, "most beautiful?" I'd wait until it actually comes out. There's nothing classically beautiful about this vehicle- it might be too different to be considered pretty.

"this car will compete with F430, gallardo, R8 and Aston Martin".

Well, in that case unless they undercut the competition like they usually would to rely on sales, it won't be very successful...

Toyotaman,

This car is fast. This car is to compete with the bugatti veyron, m6, slr, and a couple of fast cars. But unfortunately, this car can only go around 200mph. Bugatti, on the other hand, can go 252mph. Only an idiot say that bugatti is slower than the Lexus LF-A. Oh yea, does the LF-A have two V8 engines like the buggati? Does it cost 1.6 million US dollars? Enzo and Carrera GT is simply more better in speed and design. Does the LF-A have a rich histroy like the SLR? *sigh* Can the LF-A go as fast the SLR?

Four words for you Toyotaman: YOU ARE AN IDIOT!

Its a mule do you understand, the production version is gonna look like the LF-A 2 concept.

And the LFA 2 looks much better than any thing the Germans currently make.

I can't wait to see this go head to head with the GTR. Should be a good battle, one I am hoping the Nissan will win.

Price it in the $60-70K range and they will be OK. Any more $$$ and we will have the second coming of the NSX.

If this thing had a Ford badge hanging off the front all you Toyota boys would be laughing it up at what a joke this is..... Plain and simple this car has no style to it. It might be fast or even the fastest thing on wheels but the design sucks

Lexus ALWAYS understates their 0 - 60 times by at least .5 seconds. Here are the results of the 5 Top Luxury Cars in this test which was reported in the January Issue of Car and Driver. Please note these tests were all done on the same day at about the same time and at the same altitude. The results reflect the average of 3 runs and all cars are the 2007 vintage.

Mercedes S550 5.6, 0 - 60 quarter mile in 14.1 (Benz show 5.4 in their specs)
BMW 750iL 5.7, 0 - 60 quarter mile in 14.2
Jag XJ Super 6.0 0 - 60 quarter mile 14.5
Lexus LS460L 6.2 0 - 60 quarter mile 14.6
Audi A8 6.8 0 - 60 quarter mile 15.2

Note that Lexus, as usual, is more than the 5.4 the manufacturer CLAIMS to get by .8 seconds.

Also note the LS430 (prior model the LS460 replaced) was rated at 295 HP and was actually 278 when Lexus corrected their rating. And there were no refunds or apologies from the so-called "quality" car company. ABC - Always Be Careful what you buy from the (REPREHENSIBLE) Toyota/Lexus people.....

Wow

Looks really impressive. The thing I like the most is that it is really looking like a production supercar and less a concept "dream". Interior is futuristic yet plausible.

How much is this going to cost?

Anyone ever think that if Nissan decided to badge the GT-R as an Infiniti and Lux-ed it up it would be a nice competitor for this.

I didnt know they were shooting for Ferrari Enzo...

And lastly, say what you will, I think this looks better than the R8 - FYI I have a picture of an R8 taped to my wall - so dont hate on me for saying that.
