Apple May be Working on a GPS Navigation System for Mercedes

There are rumors that Apple may be working on a new in-car GPS navigation system, according to German magazine "Focus". The system is being built exclusively for Mercedes, but could be made available in other cars 6 months later when it debuts in 2009.

Totally agree with jagexpert about MAC. I switched to Apple a year and a half ago and have been happy ever since. I have no use at all for a car-based navigation system and I read a few months ago that cars equipped with nav systems have a slightly lower resale value. I'm sure Apple will sell a few but it may be just a flash in the pan in the longer term.

This would be great. The last-gen COMAND system that is used in the E, CLK, ML, GL, G, SL, SLK, R and CLS just isn't good. It's not terrible, but I much prefer the S-Class's system or Lexus's touch screen.

However, if it was replaced with an easy-to-use, attractive Apple system, it would be a huge improvement.

In fact, seeing the beautiful interface of the new iPhone, it could make it the best factory navigation system in the business.
