Indeed.

I don't know how Toyota's manufacturing facilities keep winning so many environmental awards anyway. Why? Everyone knows that Germany is the purest, cleanest country in all the world. All awards go to the Germans by default.

I personally prefer German cars - but ignorant statments like that make the rest of us look bad. The Japanese do just as much for the auto industry. Likewise people on this site love to hate VW. VW doesn't have great reliability - but they do many things well. This issue of re-use is going to be big in the coming years because there aren't enough landfills in the world that will be able to to take in all the used vehicles and all of there components.

SoCal, it's true, VWs have great reliability in Europe. That's largely because most of the European-market VWs are built there! The majority of cars sold on our shores are built in Mexico, but the more reliable models such as the GTI are built in Germany.

reason why the VW Golf is the best selling car in EU. i think the passat is also built in Germany too.
