MUST READ! Audi RS6 to have .... horsepower?

We are all wondering just how much horsepower the upcoming RS6 is going to have.

But first let's recap.

What do we know about it already?
- 6-speed ZF transmission 100ms
- AWD
- V10 twin-turbo
- even more luxurious interior
- typical RS-styling (alu mirrors, RS-dials, oval exhausts, ..)
- redline at 6800-6900 rpm
- bigger and stronger brakes (Audi Ceramic will probably be an option)
- there will be a Plus version and an Avant

Ok, I'm not making this up but from a very reliable source I can tell you the next RS6 is going to have 579 horsepower!

Look, some Audi-insiders should recognise this:

RS6 5.0:
AUDI AG 4F 7967 AAJ 21 N31 N30 579 426 5002

RS6 5.0 Avant:
AUDI AG 4F 7967 AAK 21 N31 N30 579 426 5002

579 = 579 hp
426 = 426 kW
5002 = 5002 ccm

As mentioned before there will be a Plus version later on. Estimates are 620-635 horsepower. (seems a bit too high for me)

But there is more! The RS6 engine will also find its way to the R8 V10! Can you image the performance?

Well, considering Mercedes has 514 horsepower and BMW 525-530 (507 is just a magical number for BMW)..

yeah it's ALOT!

The new tranny is probably the new ZF automatic that can handle up to 1000Nm. (also found in the Bentley Arnage and upcoming Audi Q7 V12 TDI)

Unless.. Audi is secretly preparing a new DSG?

dsg would rock
but don't count on it

they will put that in something less powerfull first to see how it does before you see it in an RS model

Its an 6 speed auto, why do people give the lexus IS-F a hard time becouse its a automatic and when audi does is nobody says any thing.

Will_Will_ - 6/18/2007 4:14:03 PM

Because it's "Tiptronic" which single-handedly reinvented the automobile as we know it.

Because of the magix dust powdered over the transmission.

RupertRupert - 6/18/2007 6:30:06 PM

Because the RS6 has always been automatic, and unlike the IS-F, is styled appropriately.
The RS6 fits in between the M5 and E63 in terms of performance-focus, but Lexus keeps on saying "It's an M3 rival", not the C class rival it really is.

S4cabriofoxoneS4cabriofoxone - 6/18/2007 6:53:49 PM

Because the RS6 is more of a GT car. If the IS-F wants to be a serious contender, it needs a manual to compete with the manual RS4 and M3. On the other hand, all of the high-po midsized sedans have automatic (or semi-automatic) transmissions as standard. The M5 only offers a manual as an option. Besides, do you know how hard it would be to control a manual-equipped sedan with that much power?!

wow thats a lot of horsepower. im sure mercedes is in the factory trying to figure out how they are going to put the s65's engine in their new e65 amg. that was a joke. but considering the way the germans' compete with eachother it isn't unrealistic.

This is just INSANE! I was very interested in the M5 and E63 AMG before, thinking the S6 was just a bit too plain... but then this comes up!

580hp in the RS6... if the 604hp S65 AMG is currently the fastest sedan in the world, weighing in at about 5000lbs (MBUSA.com), imagine the RS6 with only 25hp less, at around 4300lbs!!! Can you say ROCKET?! This is now at the top of my list! Move over BMW! Audi has me head over heels once again!

Yeap, I just feel I might not be able to touch this car very soon. Too bad is so expensive, but, hey, I totally understand why. Still, I feel bad I can't have it, I'll just wait for the next S4, that I can afford.

I really need an RS6.

Just be patient S4, in due time the Lexus GS-F will be here. Remember when everyone up here were saying their no Lexus IS-F or LF-A? right.....

And when everyone were saying the German won't go hydrid and now look at MB, VW and Porsche.

S4, why can't you get it out of your head that eventually Lexus will make the IS-F, GS-F and LS-F.

S4cabriofoxoneS4cabriofoxone - 6/19/2007 1:41:36 AM

LS-F? BMW doesn't even make an M7, so I don't think Lexus would go there. Especially when it would probably be so close to the LS600hL in price and power. Granted, the same is true about the S8/W12 and S600/S63 AMG, but nobody else should try to pull it off...

S4cabriofoxoneS4cabriofoxone - 6/19/2007 1:42:34 AM

BTW, why do you get so defensive? It's 100% true that there is no Lexus GS-F, and it's also true that if it ever comes out, we don't know when, where or what it will be like. The most likely possibility is that it would come out with the next-generation GS, as the current model is already in the middle of its cycle.

S4, very true, yeah! if the Lexus GS-F was to come out, it will probably come out with the next generation GS.

BUCKFUSH, if the GS-F came out in this generation, it would come out at the very end of the model's cycle, which wouldn't make sense. Think about it: they just stuck a new engine in the GS350, so it's the middle of the car's life. If they're developing an "F" version right now, it won't come out for at least two to three years, which is right around when the GS is being redesigned.

I hope the next GS looks more like the IS.
