Audi strikes back: BMW is “arrogant”

It hasn’t taken long for Audi to strike back with its own claims that it is one of the fastest-growing premium brands and that BMW has already been discounting its volume selling 3-series. Speaking at a press event last week, GoAuto reports that Audi’s Australian managing director Joerg Hofmann acknowledged that different manufacturers were reacting differently to Audi’s increased competition, with some reacting less intelligently than others.

Less intelligently than others...lol.

It's like a celebrity bitch fight.
"Your cars are fat!"
"Well yours are ugly!"
"Yours are slow!"
"Like your mum!"
etc etc.

It's big, fat lesbian Rosie O' Donnell against sweet, pure and innocent Elizabeth Hasselbeck.

Why are Audi and BMW not competing with better cars instead of useless accusations?
a) they cannot make better cars
b) marketing airheads are in charge
c) it's cheaper
d) they are all idiots
e) it's a conspiracy by Toyota
f) who cares?

g) all of the above.

lol!

The problem (for BMW) is that Audi is the one making better cars, gaining more and more market share each year, and BMW is getting twitchy. So it resorts to name calling.

So why then Audi feels compelled to respond?

I'm sure you would do the same as Audi did if it were you.
And Audi does it a lot more subtly than BMW.

This is kinda off subject but did anyone see that new Audi commercial with the A4 that was speeding down the street and slid into the parallel parking space between two Lexus'!!! Then the voice-over said, "Audi, the luxury car for those who can park themselves"... I thought that was pretty neat!!! I was LMAO!!!

Where I grew up - the only way to stop a bully is to fight him. If you read all of the comments - I think that is the point the Audi guy was trying to make.

Check out their new marketing team- much bolder than before, more aggressive, if you will.

BMW has a tendency to be rather aggressive in their marketing as well, directly so in fact. I recall a BMW ad showing the front end of a BMW and a Jaguar in which they had taken the Jaguar hood ornament and turned it backwards as well as computer modified it to make it look fatter. Overall, it insinuated that the Jaguar was running away from the BMW.

As a side note, I always knew Jaguar wouldn’t respond, but I always thought it would be hilarious if Jaguar released the same picture, but subtitled it “Gorgeous loathes ugly.” I am a bit of a trouble maker at times.

Anyway, despite that, truly I believe that indifference is the supreme form of contempt. The deal is also sweetened in that you have complete deniability that it even is contempt. I have a story behind that but suffice it to say that if you do it right the expression on people’s faces is priceless. They look as if you have slapped them and challenged them to a duel.

So Audi really shouldn’t reciprocate at least openly.

I think the new Audi line up is very attractive, the new 3-series just looks dated for some reason...

I don't like the styling of the 3 Series sedan - but the coupe is stunning.

I agree with the comment the Audi executive made. BMW is arrogant and that will potentially be their downfall. Audi is in it for the long run!

I have encountered BMW arrogance in dealer showrooms so maybe Audi is right. Mecedes used to have some arrogant salesmen about 50 years ago but I've only met some nice ones more recently.
