The most obvious change to the front of the 2009 Mercedes-Benz E-Class will be the square shaped headlamps that Mercedes replaced with the circular feel they used to have. On the inside, the 2009 Mercedes-Benz E-Class cockpit will have a mixture of the new S-Class and C-Class elements....

March 2009? C'mon MB, the E-Class needs to be replaced now!

No, it really doesn't. The current E-Class Sport is perhaps the best-looking car in its class. The only thing that needs updating is the dreadful infotainment system, and I would like heated rear seats.

Since its German it has to be the best in the world, period.

end of the story here.

Don't expect to see rouched leather on the doors, expect a C class look with more wood and slightly less showy buttons than the S class. I expect it will have some sort of screen standard for COMAND, so a less fussy interior overall than before.

Looks very nice. I expect the interior to look close to the 5 series, but with better materials...

The updated 5 is pretty nice on the inside (I'm sure you know that)! I am seriously considering what you said about the M5... the 570hp RS6 just might be too much. I mean, it will probably get 12mpg, and who needs more than 400hp on a daily basis? So even an M5 or E63 AMG would be overkill... a good overkill, though!

Looks like a C Class and Headlights broken in two.

S4

Well if I were you I would choose the M5, but what about the winter? I dont think RWD handle properly then... quatro vehicles do. The E63 is also nice, but its starting to look really old already, and gives you an image of a 50+ year old ( if you arent already :P )

If it will "hardly grow in size", then the thing to do is to order the 2008 C-Class which will grow a bit from 2007 and save you thousands over the price of the E. The Audi A6 will still be a better value than both the C and the E.
