Lamborghini Gallardo V8 in the making?

If this does happen - I doubt it will hurt the R8. These are limited edition vehicles that have waiting lists to get one. You can't just walk into a dealership and get one.

No, I think it would be the other way around. The only reason the R8 is being held back (at the moment) is because of the Gallardo. If the Lamborghini had an eight-cylinder engine, the only reason to buy it over the R8 would be the badge... but the R8 is sexier, nicer on the inside, quicker (it can almost keep up with the Gallardo V10), and probably less-expensive!

It will have to make more than 420HP and the car will have to be lighter, or it will be a really slow car compared to the 4.3 liter V8 from the Ferrari F430

and maybe it will be only rear wheel drive for the base V8 model. This will decrease overall weight of the car.

The V8 in use in the R8 is putting out more than 420hp already. The real number is rummored to be closer to 480-490hp SAE. The published number is being used to keep the Lambo boys happy.

Neverfollow, if it had 490hp, there would be absolutely no point to the Gallardo V10. That doesn't make sense.

A Gallardo V8 in general doesn't make sense!!!

Maybe a Gallardo with a 450hp V8 rwd would be ok, if it had a weight of about 3000~3200 lbs

since the V10 model is pushing 520hp already, but is a lot heavier.

Maybe its an Acura NSX test mule with a Gallardo shell. It might have been Porsche using an M5 shell for their sedan coming out soon.

Its probably not, but the outcry for the NSX to be mid engine and the stacked exhaust might make you think. If Acura needed a mid engine platform in a hurry to begin testing, and since there's a rumor that they maybe scrapping the front engine platform...

First of all where is the New /Revised V10 rumored to be on the Face lifted Gallardo? It was speculated to debut in 2008 Gallardo after R8’s debut.

You make a good point. That should be a trivia question - When was the last Lambo with a V8? I can't recall but I sure don't think the Countach ever was offered with one...?

It's not just that, carlover- it's the R8. Audi would never let Lamborghini do that, the cars would just be too close, and it would hurt Lambo more than Audi.

I wonder why they are doing this? I guess the it will compete with the Audi R8 and Aston Martin V8 Vantage too than. I wish they wouldn't do this because it might hurt the car image for bragging right.

You don't understand. The R8 and Gallardo are cousins, remember? SO I highly doubt this would happen. Audi, Lamborghini's full owner and parent company, would never put the green light on a car that would only compete with their own sports car. Leave Aston Martin competition to the Bentleys and to the R8.

There doing it because it's cheaper than creating a whole new platform to do it with.

Let us not forget that this car has got the Japanese car companies worried.
