Spy Shots: 2009 BMW 7-series

Due for introduction late next year, BMW’s 2009 model-year 7-series saloon has been spotted once again undergoing testing at Germany’s Nurburgring. More of an evolution of the current model rather than a complete redesign, the new 7 should feature a smoother more muscular look. Don’t be fooled by the bulky camo or the fake Bangle-butt boot lid, the next 7 will adopt styling influences from the smaller 3-series.

That's true the Z4 and 6 series are both prototypes, I keep waiting for the real designs to be introduced!

I still think the 7 series now is one of the best looking or at least it has the most "road presence" out of any other sedan in this class and I'm looking forward to this update.

Pretty much every car in this class is great-looking from every angle, and when I say one is the "best-looking," I forgot how nice the others are. 7 is the most polarizing, S is a great combination of presence and elegance, LS and A8 are simple and elegant, and they both look hot with big wheels.

it does have an road presence and looks, but let a S550 or LS460 pull up, it looks outdated, i go through that all the time but she still my baby

Hey BMW...
Can you please give us a 750x iL? In the Northeast US, BMW's are really useless in foul weather - which will likely cost you some sales unless you offer all wheel drive.

While you are at - ditch the run-flats too. Its crazy to sell a premium car the does not contain a spare tire. The business case may be good for deleting the spare - probably saves you $700 per car - but I know several BMW owners who were stranded when their BMW with run flats went flat anyway and had to be flat bedded to a BMW dealer. They won't be buying another one.

You are right about the run flats. The run flat ride sucks too.

It must come down to reducing liability risk when making Autobahn burners.

I don't know... I'd think that BMW would have put AWD on the 7 already if they wanted to at all. It doesn't seem like something they would do with their "prestige" sedan. Everyone would then scream "COPYING AUDI! COPYING MERCEDES!" LOL.
