that looks exactly like the Lexus. I think that is the Lexus but with the toyota badge...but then again i think they launched the brand globally...?

The current LC & LX were simple yet understated designs but this one is a huge disappointment so far.

Its looks long and very narrow (but its not),side profile reminds me of the Prado.
Its lost its square shape to more of a rectangular body.

Interior looks weird with the curve where the cd-player is and again too much cheap looking plastic.

Hope its better in person than the pics.

Fanboy, i laugh when you'll protect anything lexus or toyota even if it looks so bad.

the lx570 was bad looking but they took it to whole another level for the land cruiser.

That really nice looking, but to be honest, this isn't a new type of design for Toyota. It just doesn't make you say "wow" when you see it. It's still a good-looking SUV though.

I thought Lexus said the Landcruiser and the LX would be totally different cars?

Maybe we are all wrong here. I do remember Toyota selling the Landcruiser 100 (called Amazon in the UK) with a 50th Anniversary package which was IDENTICAL to the Lexus LX470. So my point is Europe and Asia will probably get a rebadged LX570 with an even uglier interior and even more buttons to push than America.

But the LC in the picture is the one that M.E will get (probably Asia). Oh and here the current LC and the LX have different headlights... and the LX has a more luxurious interior.

And do you really think this car can get any worse? It's already the most hideous SUV that will go on production... and the interior looks.... TERRIBLE.

Probably the ugliest SUV currently on sale in the US. The best Landcruiser from a styling point of view was the model from the mid 1980s. After that it just went downhill and they began to gain weight and look uglier and uglier every year.

Who cares what it looks like. What counts is what it can do and how reliable the drivetrain is. I want full disclosure about the design details of the 4WD system as that is the essence of this type of vehicle. I'd Like to see at least two Torsen differentials and some sort of manual locking capability.

Step 1. Denial "its not ugly, it looks great"

Step 2. Anger "toyota really F'ed this one up"

Step 3. Acceptance "Who cares what it looks like. What counts is what it can do and how reliable the drivetrain is."

Maybe Toyota could borrow some of that L-Finesse from their Lexus design studio...or is this a product of L-Finesse? What a non-descript, flavourless, beast...this is why Toyota is not on my list, no identity or design values...

Looks good to me. If you dont like it, you're probably not even looking into this class of vehicle. There are only a couple ways to design these behemoths, curvy or boxy. The RR is boxy, so naturally Toy/Lex went the opposite way.

This is a strong evolution of the LC/LX styling that has been consistent since 1990. And the interior looks good, sporty, presumably to differentiate it from the LX.

2008 GX470 is the next victim.

The X5 is a brilliant handling SUV, in fact it was the first of its kind. Just look how many others want to copy it. Acura, Cadillac, Lexus, ..

You might add Porsche in that list too but you would be wrong because the Cayenne was planned already in '96.

Lexus ALWAYS understates their 0 - 60 times by at least .5 seconds. Here are the results of the 5 Top Luxury Cars in this test which was reported in the January Issue of Car and Driver. Please note these tests were all done on the same day at about the same time and at the same altitude. The results reflect the average of 3 runs and all cars are the 2007 vintage.

Mercedes S550 5.6, 0 - 60 quarter mile in 14.1 (Benz show 5.4 in their specs)
BMW 750iL 5.7, 0 - 60 quarter mile in 14.2
Jag XJ Super 6.0 0 - 60 quarter mile 14.5
Lexus LS460L 6.2 0 - 60 quarter mile 14.6
Audi A8 6.8 0 - 60 quarter mile 15.2

Note that Lexus, as usual, is more than the 5.4 the manufacturer CLAIMS to get by .8 seconds.

Also note the LS430 (prior model the LS460 replaced) was rated at 295 HP and was actually 278 when Lexus corrected their rating. And there were no refunds or apologies from the so-called "quality" car company. ABC - Always Be Careful what you buy from the (REPREHENSIBLE) Toyota/Lexus people.....
