Were expecting the new 7 Series to have a completely new front end, similar to the 6-Series styling, and sources say the current models extravagant design will be toned down quite a bit. In addition, were anticipating the sedan to have an even more elegant look than ever before.

In addition to the exterior updates, BMW will be introducing a new iDrive and rumor has it an eight-speed transmission.

The new 7-series is not expected to be released until sometime during the 2008 calendar year, and will arrive as a 2009 model.

Just look at those exhaust. Another S-class, A8 killer. Lexus 460 doesnt even come close :) (since it's not considered as a sport sedan.)

unsurprising to find fanboys talk trash again.

The biggest threat to the 7 is the current S-class which is virtually brilliant, beautiful design which commands attention and looks prestigious.
A whole new spanking interior of wood, chrome and leather with minimal use of plastic. + the build quality up to the old benz of the 80s and early 90s.

Then theres the all new A8 which will pose a bigger threat than ever before when released in 08/09??

So the new 7 has to be spot on with no issues with the design or idrive systems (the electrical gremlins were a huge prob with the current 7)

The LS460 is a great car but isn't in the league of the S Class, 7 series or A8.

LS460 is a great car but its it hasn't matched the current S-class on its interior (mainly the center console is nice but doesn't reach the mark of the S-class interior. Replace the plastic on the sides of the nav system with wood and the 80s clock) while the exterior is a great improvement but not just not good enough.

Moreover the price difference, if i remember while comparing the regular LS460 vs the S350, its still way cheaper by $15-20k.

yea yea say merc is overpriced but people are buying it for the name, brand and prestige & its exclusive (or else everyone would buy it)
The S-class, 7series or A8 are the luxury sedans and would the ls460 sell at the german sedan prices?

the LS460L is the new extended but has a hybird which is great & primarily targeted at US, what about the rest of the world?

In uae, we get the extended version with the same V8
as the regular one, they should have offered a V12/V10.

The exhausts are ugly, what kind of abad taste do you have?
And if they'll integrate them in the bumper then I think you know who's idea they're copying.
The 460 rules over all sedans, and when they come up with a sport 460 it will rule over all sport sedans.

is it as much of an eyesore as it is on the new S-Class, LS, ES350, Camry, etc.? If it's true that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery then BMW must be awfully flattered because all of them have copied the infamous Bangle Butt design. Hell, Mercedes even went as far as to straight lift the entire interior of the 7-Series and graft it into the S, right down to the shifter lever and iDrive/COMAND knob.

Everything looks to be well ballance.

Back end design makes me nervous!

I hope BMW have learn from their bangle butt mistake.

Mercedes gave the S-class the Maybach butt. Bangle has nothing to do here.

is that right....yeah the rear shape, the more avantgarde styling, the column shifter, the shape of the center stack your right bmw had nothing to do with that....not trashing the s class it is best in class right now but the 7 was obviously considered when creating it.......but on to another point people have trashed bmws desighns recently but the 7 and 5 have sold more now than ever before especially the 7 the old 7's never sold as well as they did until they got the controversial styling that it has now so it seems its just mags, and enthusiasts that dont care for it

This looks like a test mule based off the current 7 and the LED tail lights are part of the test.

The new 2009 7 Series will be outrageous!

I guess BMW want to be cool and hip like the new Lexus LS by copying Lexus LS 8 speed transmission. Hey! I wouldn't blame them for trying to be cool and hip like Lexus.

BMW has utterly failed to leapfrog Mercedes and Audi in styling so what's the point of teasing us with styling-oriented partial pics? Keep your 7 BMW !!!

No one has even seen this new 7-series,and you German fanboys are already saying it's better than the LS460,talk about being closed minded and biased!!

These days prestige does not mean anything,if it's not made with quality.

No one can tell what it will look like, to much camo.

But i guess it will look better than the S class, the existing one does, so does the LS and A8. I hate the look of the S, its so ugly.

well the LS460 isn't made for sport, and the japanese barely use an eight cylinder, and they've never gone past it,and according to everbody, many BMWs are ugly anyways,i think it's only going to change when Bangle leaves

BMW must realise that handling isn't everything. A luxury car needs to have good ride quality, interiors, and looks and the s class delivers on all fronts and the command system is better than i drive. I am going to but the S350L if the 7 series lets me down.
