The best BMW M3 Ever? -- Goodbye M3 Competition Package
This is a beautifully written article about the E46 M3 Competition package. To me the last real BMW before the Bangle nightmare came. The last M3 with a six-cylinder.
I'm sure the new M3 will be much better and more brilliant as ever in terms of engineering but I can't live with the way it looks. BMW please kill Bangle.

Boy I'm gonna miss this car BAD.

It is a classic for sure. I just wish BMW hired the same designers again!

The ironic thing is Chris Bangle was on the design team for the E46.

I think the new M3 (from a designer's perspective) looks much more striking and commands more authority than the E46 shape, which was handsome, but too controlled and now, very dated.

Yes, I am fully aware of that. The same goes for the E53 X5.

Maybe he suddenly lost all of its talent?

This car was badass! A modern day hot rod especially in the competition package. I agree, the new design looks nice and rounder (dont know if thats a good thing), but not as mean and racy as this one.

I drove an E46 M3 daily for 5 years.

I traded it in for a brand new M5.

I don’t miss the M3.

I’m not knocking it. The last inline-6 M3 will always hold a special place in BMW Motorsport Valhalla.

But, I don’t miss...working the stiff, long throw 6-spd in stop-n-go traffic, or the unforgiving ride, or the fact that I couldn’t drive more than 10 minutes without running into one.

Of course, like any M car when the road opens up….it’s brilliant!

definitely a beautiful bodystyle.....but why are you going to miss the car? just buy one and keep it! not possible due to reliabiity issues or ???
(FYI - warrantydirect will not sell an extended warranty for the M3 or ANY M series....that should tell you something about the reliability)
