Pimp My Audi? New Program Allows Buyer To Choose From 30,000 Colors

The German firm has announced a bespoke personalisation scheme for its entire range of cars. Called Exclusive, this offers “virtually infinite customisation possibilities”. “It opens up the palette, with more than 30,000 ready-prepared colours,” explained a spokesman. “But there’s also the option of one-off mixes as long as a suitable sample is supplied.”

The theme can continue inside, too, from the carpet and mats to the seatbelts and headlining. Examples already created include a shocking pink TT coupé, painted to match some back seat cushions!

Great Idea! But I wonder what this will do to the resale value of those particular cars (possibly brand as a whole) when they are ordered by tasteless ppl in bright pink, neon green, or hot magenta like the one pictured.

If you are tasteless then you lose out on resale.

But Audi has had a color match paint option for several years, but this also allow custom interior colors as well. Pretty cool idea if you have the talent to make a unique ride.

Exactly, 009. That's why here in Europe many many many people buy they Porsches in black or gray with black or gray interior.. boring yes but it helps the resale value.

It's about time Audi took a page out of the book used by bodyshop supply stores that make up custom paint spray cans for touchups matched to manufacturers' paint specs. Custom paint is just a matter of adding x number of drops of various tints to each specified measure of base paint to achieve a fairly accurate match to a paint color specification. What worries me is that Audi no longer sells touch-up paint at the dealer's parts counter. BTW, that purple color in the above photo is butt ugly.

I think every car company should do this. I don't care if it lowers the resale value because to me a car is not an investment. Same way if I owned a ferrari you would not see only 2500 miles after 2 years. When I get a car I like to enjoy it period!

This isn't new! Audi Exclusive exists for quite some time actually.

All the other Germans premium firms do it too:
- BMW --> BMW Individual GmbH
- Audi --> Audi Exclusive
- VW --> VW Individual (currently only packages)
