Nissan CEO discusses all-electric cars

Nissan is looking to leapfrog Toyota in the eco-friendly automotive segment and may turn to developing all-electric cars to achieve this. That’s what Nissan’s CEO Carlos Ghosn told reporters when asked about Nissan’s plans for hybrid technology.

Tesla will be awesome when/if it comes out.

The idea behind the Prius was to prove that HEVs can be practical. The Tesla wants to prove that BEVs can be fun. Not exactly the same...

There is nothing ugly about the Prius. The only reason I would not buy one is that it's a hybrid. Toyota should make a larger "Prius" with a powerful small diesel.

Prii can be fun. You just have to tune them to be a bit more sporty than the standard Toyota production spec. Toyota themselves created a Prius GT that was quite an impressive handling car:

As for how they look -- well, i'd rather a car that was designed for low aerodynamic drag than an ugly box that is designed to evoke styling that somebody penned 40+ years ago, when hoodlines and proportions were necessarily boxy because of the antiquated powertrains that were crudely bolted into them. Cheers to Toyota for pushing the envelope. Now let's see more sporty suspension tuning in those hybrids!
